Welcome to Margi's place: Five novels, two memoirs and other writerly stuff
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2011/07/five-novels-two-memoirs-and-other.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, July 01, 2011. Five novels, two memoirs and other writerly stuff. Just one of my NaNoWriMo winning certificates. I plan to be a part of the group again this November - something I look forward to almost as much as my birthday. Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a big project and wondered how in the blazes you got yourself into it? I’m in one of those now and for the life of me I don’t recall how it all began. Printing hundreds of pag...

Welcome to Margi's place: May 2011

Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, May 27, 2011. Bargain fits like the proverbial glove. My favorite guy and his pooch chillin' together on the back steps. He's too modest to admit that he's the best bargain hunter in the world, so I'll do it for him. I love a good bargain. Spring, summer and fall eventually followed and I kept an eye on those gloves. They were on a bookshelf in the downstairs foyer for quite some time and then, well, they weren’t. When I freaked out a bit over ...

Welcome to Margi's place: January 2011

Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, January 28, 2011. Remembering Dwen, Patti and Dad. Don't you sometimes wonder what goes through a dog's mind? Sarah Jane loves to sit and stare out a window and she gets this faraway look in her eyes, like she's having a special memory. I do that too, especially when I want to bring someone back for just a little while. I mention this event because it brings a dear friend to mind. Dwen Freeburg played tennis for decades, up into his 90s....

Welcome to Margi's place: February 2012
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, February 10, 2012. She's gone, finally. I hope. One (hopefully) last hate-filled rant came quietly into my email box tonight from a former friend and business partner. I will say she does know me well, a little too well, but that's my fault. God willing, I'll never be that open with anyone like that ever again. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Shooting off my mouth - a little. Did I say that out LOUD? Watch Sarah Jane on YouTube! Welcome to Margi's place: December 2010
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, December 31, 2010. Five-foot-high Sylvester just what this kid wanted. 8220;There is nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child.”. My husband loves to attend auctions. I have to admit, he does bring home some screaming deals and he has willpower. We’ve both learned it doesn’t pay to bid and win something based purely on emotion. 8220;Yeah, right.”. Then more wrapping paper was needed and it looked like a tri...

Welcome to Margi's place: Oh, God
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2011/06/oh-god.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Sunday, June 05, 2011. Clint and his Army recruiter. Gary and I have been watching the AMC series, The Killing. The basic premise is that a young girl went missing, was found murdered and her body was found in the trunk of a car that is part of a fleet of vehicles owned by a politician. The show is sharp, fascinating and very well-acted by (for the most part) little-known actors. I know I post a lot about Clint, but no one has to read what I write....

Welcome to Margi's place: Christmas dinner, wonderful anniversary
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2011/12/our-christmas-dinner-hostess-was.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, December 30, 2011. Christmas dinner, wonderful anniversary. Our Christmas dinner hostess was competent and flustered at the same time. A family guest was plucking tender turkey from the roasting pan and placing it on a serving plate. Light brown gravy simmered on the stove; corn casserole and twice-baked potatoes were warming in the oven. After the nearly endless placing of the turkey and all the trimmings on the tables, the prayer, and the pas...

Welcome to Margi's place: Let's not take one another for granted
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2011/06/lets-not-take-one-another-for-granted.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, June 10, 2011. Let's not take one another for granted. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to take people and things for granted and forget how lucky you are to have either? Even though sometimes I’m busier than a one-armed paper hanger I make the time to read. Usually I have three books going at once: one by the bed, one by my chair in the living room and one in a travel bag that goes with me out of town every Monday. The hours stretched and ...

Welcome to Margi's place: If I could pick friends as family, these two would be a part of ours
http://acolumnshewrote.blogspot.com/2011/06/if-i-could-pick-friends-as-family-these.html
Welcome to Margi's place. Columns through the years. Friday, June 24, 2011. If I could pick friends as family, these two would be a part of ours. Someday we'll meet again, as we all eventually travel on ahead of loved ones. The important thing is that we all reunite at the same destination. A few days ago I said good-bye to someone else high up there on my list of friends I’ll never forget. Hubby and I watched Pastor Bruce on television most Sunday mornings, and I almost always took notes. ...As the sun ...
