A Yankee's Musing

Wednesday, March 04, 2015. There are things, so many things, I read and see in the news. But my students bring fresh eyes, an open mind, and an aching heart to these stories: I see faces so like those who have names. My perspective has changed. I have learned not to make assumptions and judgments. I have learned from my students. Will I be the same without them? Will, upon my return to a world so very separate from the rest, in the White Mountains, lose more than I will gain? Posted by AYankee @ 1:08 PM.

A Yankee's Musing: January 2005

http://musingsofayankeemoderate.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 31, 2005. I have to take a moment off my usual musings to say, Wow, doesn't those closeups of the people in Iraq voting and the wide span ones of them going to vote amazing? Doesn't matter what political side you're on, or if you're a straddler on the issues, the truth of the power of choice surely must be recognized here. Now I bet many people are saying right now that the media elicited and culled the pictures we have seen. Duh? Posted by AYankee @ 1:28 PM. Friday, January 21, 2005.

A Yankee's Musing: Thoughts on a Frigid Snowy Day in New York City 2015

http://musingsofayankeemoderate.blogspot.com/2015/02/thoughts-on-frigid-snowy-day-in-new.html

Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Thoughts on a Frigid Snowy Day in New York City 2015. Thoughts on a Frigid Snowy Day in New York City 2015. A single snow track. Etched by city soot. Bags of shredded paper. I once met a child named Richard. Whose superhero friends lurked just. Outside the classroom door. Sometimes under his desk. Often in his back pocket which he’d slap when. He needed their special powers. I came to know each one’s weakness. A simple hug chased them away behind. For the first time.

A Yankee's Musing: May 2005

http://musingsofayankeemoderate.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 20, 2005. And there is life. What is this baby bear doing here alone. They don't go out on their own until two. No way is this little creature two. No mother in sight. I wait. No mother still. Has she been killed? Finally I can't wait, say, "Look out bear, here I come." Baby bear moves out of the way, just barely, as I make it to my outhouse. It is not there when I come out. Smart bear afterall. Posted by AYankee @ 9:30 AM. Thoughts on a Frigid Snowy Day in New York City 20.

A Yankee's Musing: Dreaming

http://musingsofayankeemoderate.blogspot.com/2012/03/dreaming.html

Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Red kayak slices forward. Breathing catches the tune. If I close my eyes. Lick cracked salty lips. Squint off the ocean’s glare. If there is a place called heaven. It must have a red kayak. An ocean of islands. Posted by AYankee @ 1:34 PM. Ten Years Since 9-11. Plus another 335 between 11/23/2004 and 9/18/2005.).

Lily Lazuli: December 2014

http://lilylazuli.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Sunday, December 28, 2014. On the other side of the holidays. It was a mild day on Saturday, enough to grab a wrap sweater, a cup of tea and sit in the back yard enjoying a bit of sun on my face, while reading Candace B. Pert's Molecules of Emotion. Lily Lazuli: June 2014

http://lilylazuli.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Saturday, June 28, 2014. I haven't written in awhile. For the most part, I've been busy with summer activities. Still dealing with some health issues. Altho things are on the upswing. Yay! Not feeling quite so terrible. Last weekend, I even spent some time sunbathing in my backyard. The day was warm with a rich breeze and I was so caught up in the book that I was reading that I burned. Lots of Aloe Vera slathered on for several days after that. I've been pulling books from...

Lily Lazuli: March 2014

http://lilylazuli.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Sunday, March 30, 2014. I sit in the mind of the snowfall. Blanket the earth into slumber. Come spirits and visions. Insect-ideas writhe under flesh. Itch the skin, bubble along a surface. Shovel snow off a balcony, a frigid day. Cold seeps into bones, etch marks. Cools the hunger, a fire-thirsty brain. Mother’s expectations press down. Excess flesh bears up the burden well. Dogs bark to scare a black squirrel. Who sits on the fence eating a nut. Come prophesies and cantos.

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Like this for instance.I wrote on the train home one night. A couple huddles in a dark embrace. Of tongue, teeth and wet lips. Who are they but youthful gods. Searching for their power. A reflection of potential being. The city alight with possibilities. Not really sure yet what it needs to become but the words are on the page at least. Why am I not writing? Josh Kaufman-Stay with Me. Will write more soon. Saturday, April 12, 2014. Sleep in white...

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Wednesday, December 4, 2013. I spent the holiday weekend upstate with my best friend Tony. Buddies since college, we now share similar food restrictions so it was great to see the very many options to change up my one note menu. He cooked his heart out and I was his sous chef for one or two recipes. He showed me how to change up and substitute ingredients to get a similar taste and texture from original recipes. Pic taken by Antony Galbraith, Stolen by Lily. The problem is...

Lily Lazuli: September 2014

http://lilylazuli.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Poet, Playwrite, Visual Artist. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar. There is one scene with Amir’s young cousin Abe played by Danny Ashok at the end of the play that is heartbreaking. After the aftermath of the previous scenes, it felt like adding salt to the wounds but so well done nonetheless. This play is directed by Kimberly Senior. 8220;Disgraced” began preview performances on Sept. 27 and opens on Oct. 23. Thursday, September 25, 2014. A Most Wanted Man. You get my drift though, ...

Musings of a Working Mother, Part-Time SAHM. View my complete profile. Thursday, January 24, 2013. I haven't been able to stop since the final minutes of labor with my daughter almost eight years ago. I remember telling her father, I just need a little break. I thought if I rested for a minute, I could muster up the last of my strength and push her out of there. But there wasn't time; she was already coming, and I had to keep pushing.
