Musings on Social Software

Musings on Social Software. Friday, August 10, 2007. Well, this post symbolizes my last official act as a student at library school. It's been a lovely semester, and I wish you all the best as you continue through library school or experience new beginnings. Thursday, August 2, 2007. While some areas I was familiar with (blogs, wikis) and some were new or close to it (social bookmarking, RSS), I feel like I gained insight in all areas, particularly in library application. However, once you start thinking...

Musings on Social Software: July 2007

http://musingsonsocialsoftware.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Musings on Social Software. Saturday, July 28, 2007. My Foray into Second Life. After experiencing Second Life in a half-hour exploration, the aptness of the title was evident. This "game" is completely absorbing, and once you get the knack for the controls (I really could have used the Unofficial Guide to Second Life. During my brief exploration) it appears to have limitless possibilities. So many it is truly overwhelming to the occasional gamer. Thursday, July 19, 2007. Libraries and Social Networking.

Musings on Social Software: June 2007

http://musingsonsocialsoftware.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Musings on Social Software. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Social Tagging on the OPAC. After reading more about folksonomies and social bookmarking, I began to consider how I would want this implemented in a library. I am going to try to focus on my experience as a user, not a MLIS student (which shouldn't be too hard, as I spent many more years as a user, and still am one, albeit slightly transformed). As a tagger, I would make Thomas VanderWal. Mapping a folksonomy onto the OPAC or a database would not repl...

Musings on Social Software: Like a Fine Wine: Social Bookmarking gets Better with Age

http://musingsonsocialsoftware.blogspot.com/2007/06/like-fine-wine-social-bookmarking-gets.html

Musings on Social Software. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Like a Fine Wine: Social Bookmarking gets Better with Age. One opinion on the web that I found very interesting was Elaine Peterson's. While this opinion is interesting, it neglects to see the power of the social environment. A link or photo may be tagged inaccurately numerous times, but likely not in the same way more than once or twice. However, the most accurate and applicable tags will likely be repeated numerous times. As Hammond et al.

Musings & Reflections

My blog is either an extract or my journal - it is a process of discovering aspects of my own self hitherto unknown to me. The muse and reflections are on myself and life and I offer these to the Universe. Saturday, May 2, 2015. Beginning or Continuation 01 May 2015. So is this a beginning? Or is this a continuation? I am supposed to be back. Well, what does that mean? Coming back (previous readers of mine know I meander a lot and I am not ashamed about it), the last few months have seen me get an urge t...

Musings on Sex and Sexuality « What you may have always wanted to know and no one was talking about!

Musings on Sex and Sexuality. What you may have always wanted to know and no one was talking about! I have been spending a lot of time considering Work/Life balance. I almost started that sentence with “I have been struggling with…” but decided to try and take the struggle out of it. This is about choices, to build a career, choices to make money, to advance my knowledge and experience. It is also about choices around. How I want to spend my time. I want to be an expert on it all. I want to be able t...

musingsonsheepishness | knitbaahpurl offers a yarn or two

Knitbaahpurl offers a yarn or two. Pssst….I wanna buy a mug…. (on Fiber Fest educations). August 3, 2015. So I have a Ph.D. So here I am finding myself in social places and creative places that continue to surprise me, even three years into my curious dance with knitbaahpurl. One encounter stands out for me. Psst, I want to buy a mug. I barely heard him. I came closer to him. Turning up the volume on his whisper he repeated,. I want to buy a mug. Of course, I said. Red or blue? And he walked away.

Musings on Second Life

Musings on Second Life. Pondering the multi-faceted uses of Second Life in Education, Collaboration, Business, and Fun. Sunday, September 2, 2007. OOPS - What happened to our strategist? Lately, Second Life. And other groups. And that’s not all. I would think marketing strategists would know better and I am disappointed in my colleagues for being seduced by the wow factor and not considering how to properly use this technology. Posted by Musings on Second Life. Monday, July 16, 2007. And founder of SL, P...

Musings On SOA

Sunday, February 24, 2008. Got Money, Will Buy Sophistication. Globalization has brought many disruptive changes. The Internet and ease of communication have made it easy for companies to stretch far beyond their traditional boundaries. As a result, companies are opting for inorganic growth by M&A –- not just in their neighborhood, but all over the world. On a side note, I recently read that fuel costs have doubled for the airlines in the last year. The growth patterns between developing and developed ec...

Musings on the A. Thoughts as I ride the A train. Saturday, May 11, 2013. I have not completely forgotten about this blog, invisible people that would ever bother visiting this page. October 6th, 2012. Thursday, May 17, 2012. Maybe you should write a memoir," my little cousin suggested. "About the lemon tree. Sounds like a story.". Hhm I should. Musings on the long eighteenth century

Musings on the long eighteenth century. A repository for articles on all aspects of social history in the long eighteenth century. Friday, 1 May 2015. Farewell to Clandon Park. I had the huge privilege to work as the House Manager's Assistant part-time for three years at the beautiful. The collection was fabulous and included one of the country's best assembly of porcelain and ceramic, including stunning Meissen harlequin. Figures and monkey orchestra as well as pieces by S è. Vres, Bow and Chelsea.
