October 22, 2007. Sitting with some friends, we were discussing Rob Bell’s book Velvet Elvis. It’s a book that I have really liked and even have quoted on this blog. Reading this book on my own has been great; but it has really started to grab me in discussing and dissecting what Bell is saying. He goes on to talk about the way that he chooses to believe and what he puts his faith in. He lists a bunch of things that he is convinced of:. 8220;I am convinced that being generous is a better way to live.

In a recent meeting, when the leader of the meeting asked the question: “where do you see the Church in 5 years? 8221; and “where would Jesus see the Church in 5 years? 8221; I went blank, to be honest. I knew the “Sunday school” answer but that’s been done; it’s time to think outside the box. I see a Church that holds AA meetings on Thursdays before it sings on Sunday. I see a Church that lets kids play floor hockey on Tuesday before it preaches on Sunday.
