Old enough to make mudpies by myself. Wearing funny hats and ugly clothes. January 7, 2010. There goes the starting gun. New list for this year's planting. We planted 1 row of beets. This year we will plant 3 rows and then 3 weeks later 3 more rows. We hope to have more for eating and then plenty to can. We planted 3 rows of cucs and got about 4 cucumbers. We'll move the cucs to another spot and plant double. No melons this year but still plenty of zucchini. I'm not sure about trying any corn this year.

Old enough to make mudpies by myself. Wearing funny hats and ugly clothes. May 15, 2010. May days in the garden. Rather than do the hanging tomatoes this year I used the old swingset. With some extra field fencing to create a pea fence. They're in the ground but we'll need warmer days to see them. In the center is old boards lying around for weed control. Heavy dew and mist each morning and 70's each afternoon. It should be growing a bit faster, but at least it's growing. Waiting on blackberries, next week we'll be canning syrup and jelly. My not so empty nest days. On September 23, 2010. My hand feels violated. I have an icky taste in the back of my throat. I'm soo nauseous. I can't believe I did that. I had 4 10 pound babies natural because I hate needles. I see the dentist about once a decade because I hate needles. I have walked out on more than one dr's office because I hate needles. And now I have to give my mom shots in her stomach twice a day. eewww. 2 seconds and we are done. Didn't even hurt, did it. 0 I think.:. A mother of 4.

My baby is going to be ok :) They said the tumor is non-malignant and will probably grow some more and she has to go back in 4-6 months for another ultrasound but it's NOT CANCER! I cried. My not so empty nest days. On September 4, 2010. My last view of Grumpy heading down the driveway for 2 weeks. Elk season. Every year since we've met he heads up to the mountain for bow season hunting elk. YIPPEE! I hope we fill the freezer. My son will head up on Monday to join him.I'm hoping for 2 animals. My not so empty nest days. On August 10, 2010. I am SUCH A TWIT! After having my massive pity party in glorious technicolor I happened to get a call from one of the workers. She got me respite. 2 hours later I had respite for everybody. 4 and 1/2 hours after that everybody was delivered. Thank you for all those positive thoughts. Because canning is an area that should never be experimented with I advise that if you do as I do, you do so at your own risk. August 19, 2010. We had 3 days of sun and I finally got my first picking of green beans! I really thought the plants would die before producing. 6 qts and 5 pints. It's a start. I can't wait until some wonderful person invents a pressure canner that works as fast as a microwave. August 14, 2010. Canning carrots and carrot cake. 2 and 2/3 cups of sugar. 2/3 cups of shortening.

Learning new ways to cook as I grow (up.not old). I think you have to be in a creative mood to create a meal. I barely have enough energy to open the boxes. I see glimpses of sun every so often and I'm hoping for renewed energy soon. Me trying with eggs. With time on my hands and a shoebox full of eggs I tried something new. It's very easy, even for me :). Butter 6 slices of bread and cut into squares. Layer one half into a buttered casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and about 20 minutes. I liked...
