My Pennines

Thursday, 31 December 2015. My longest walk of the year, a near 15 mile exploration of Whernside and Scales Moor. It was third time lucky for me when I finally got a good view from Nine Standards Rigg. By the trig point on Calton Moor, the final one I hadn't visited in the Yorkshire Dales. Heading towards Mickle Fell on a cracking linear walk across the Warcop Range. The Minigaff Hills in Galloway as seen on my return to Loch Trool from Merrick. Perhaps also it is just a reflection of my obsessive nature...

My Pennines: December 2013

http://mypennines.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 31 December 2013. With my original walking partner Matt now devoted to running and limited opportunities for my wife and I to go for walks I’ve spent much of the last few years walking on my own. This began to change in February when I met up for the first time with Tim and Jack from the. A major source of frustration has been the slow process of revamping my website. Finally, after a great deal of agonising, are my favourite walks, views and walking moments of 2013. Top 5 Walks of 2013:. The vi...

My Pennines: Variety is the spice of life - my walking year 2012

http://mypennines.blogspot.com/2013/01/variety-is-spice-of-life-my-walking.html

Friday, 4 January 2013. Variety is the spice of life - my walking year 2012. Wintry weather early in the year, particularly icy conditions meant that I avoided higher ground and instead led to my first forays into the Howardian Hills (nice but definitely not hilly) and the Arnside and Silverdale AONB (absolutely lovely) as well as a couple of walks in the North York Moors, an area that I've enjoyed re-acquainting myself with in 2012 and plan on visiting more in 2013. Top 5 Walks of 2012:. The late evenin...

My Pennines: December 2012

http://mypennines.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 18 December 2012. Exploring the towns and villages of the north. The objectives of most of my walks have been particular summits, trig points or specificr features such as a crag or waterfall. Inadvertantly, it seems that my passion for hill walking has led me to hundreds of places which I'd never have visited otherwise. If you also include all the places I've driven through but not actually stopped in the number would probably rise to over 500. Links to this post. Saturday, 15 December 2012.

My Pennines: December 2011

http://mypennines.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, 23 December 2011. It is that time of year again when magazines, papers and TV schedules are chock full of articles and programmes reviewing different aspects of the last 12 months, whether it be the top films, best albums, top news stories of 2011, etc, etc. This blog post then is my personal look back at the best, and worst, of my walking adventures in 2011. For a start I managed to complete most of the walks I'd planned out for the year. In my review of 2010. Anyway the following, in no particu...

My Pennines: Walking Review 2014

http://mypennines.blogspot.com/2015/01/walking-review-2014.html

Thursday, 1 January 2015. Well it is fair to say that 2014 was another wonderful year of walking. The short Boxing Day walk around Swinsty Reservoir just nudged me over 500 miles for the year, spread over 68 walks. Although it was not a year in which I tackled lots of big hills I still managed to clock up almost 82,000 feet of ascent, the equivalent of climbing Everest almost three times from sea level! On Numberstones End enjoying one of my favourite views of 2014. By far the longest walk of the year an...

Peak District – Monsal, Cressbrook, Tideswell & Miller’s Dale. Another week, another walk and this time there was no getting around the bad weather. I plotted a quick route, got. Continue reading → Peak District – Monsal, Cressbrook, Tideswell & Miller’s Dale. January 9th, 2014 Tags: Cressbrook Dale. The 8th episode of the Pe...

My Pennies, My Thoughts

My Pennies, My Thoughts. It’s supposed to be tough when you’re young. August 6, 2015. I live in Alberta’s largest city, and most expensive by far. I moved out of my parents house at 21 to live with my boyfriend. Who is now my loving husband. I’m 24, a recent Alberta School of Business grad. I’m almost halfway through my CPA designation and I work outrageous hours during busy season. All of this while being paid what a lot of people would consider pathetic. But I don’t think it’s supposed to be. In additi...

My Pennine Way

Monday, 12 September 2016. Day 16 The Cheviot and the end. 13 miles Clennell Street to Kirk Yetholm. One nice bit of advice that Wainwright gives is to take your time walking and savour the moment as "you may not come this way again.". Today feels different though. I've never felt so happy on the last day of a holiday before and I. I don't even hate my boots anymore - looking all newly waxy and dry. So maybe it's taken 15 days of walking to get me to live in the moment. Top of The Schill. And log book of...
