My Pennine Way

Monday, 12 September 2016. Day 16 The Cheviot and the end. 13 miles Clennell Street to Kirk Yetholm. One nice bit of advice that Wainwright gives is to take your time walking and savour the moment as "you may not come this way again.". Today feels different though. I've never felt so happy on the last day of a holiday before and I. I don't even hate my boots anymore - looking all newly waxy and dry. So maybe it's taken 15 days of walking to get me to live in the moment. Top of The Schill. And log book of...

My Pennine Way: Day 7 Dodd Fell

http://mypenninewayblog.blogspot.com/2016/09/day-7-dodd-fell.html

Saturday, 3 September 2016. Day 7 Dodd Fell. 14 miles Horton-in-Ribblesdale to Hawes. Today we had proper rain. While getting wet, I thought of several good things about this. Firstly, it's given me a chance to try out my new waterproof trousers, that kept my legs dry and rustling throughout the day. Secondly, there's been no rain so far, apart from a squally shower on day 3, it didn't rain during the slippery limestone stepped ascent of Pen-Y-Ghent yesterday , a. One of the Sell Gill holes. It has raine...

My Pennine Way: Day 15 Windy Gyle

http://mypenninewayblog.blogspot.com/2016/09/day-15-windy-gyle.html

Saturday, 10 September 2016. Day 15 Windy Gyle. 14 miles Byrness to Clennell street. Starting on the second-to-last day of walking, I'm feeling a strange mix of emotions. There's sadness, excitement and relief. Hopefully in one day's time, at about 5.00 pm, I'll also be feeling a little victorious. Yesterday in Bellingham, I saw this man looking victorious ,. Walking home with his trophies and prize winning leeks. Me on the Cheviots. The aptly named Windy Gyle. 11 September 2016 at 15:01. Day 7 Dodd Fell.

My Pennine Way: Day 8 Great Shunner Fell

http://mypenninewayblog.blogspot.com/2016/09/day-8-great-shunner-fell.html

Saturday, 3 September 2016. Day 8 Great Shunner Fell. 125 mile Hawes to Keld. My motivation for another days walk wasn't so great this morning. The prospect of saying goodbye, for the second time in as many weeks, to Dave and happy domesticity didn't help. Today is the shortest walk of the journey though, so we had a lazy start before Dave drove me to Hawes and set me on my way. Hawes and Wensleydale on the ascent of Great Shunner Fell. Pen-Y-Ghent a day and a half walk away. Shunner Fell at the. Day 13 ...

My Pennine Way: August 2016

http://mypenninewayblog.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 August 2016. 175 miles Cowling to Malham. The owner of the Harlequin in Cowling said last night that the walking gets easier after day 4. I'm not so sure, but today was the longest day yet (it's also one of the flattest). Pinhaw Beacon isn't much of a climb at all. I think a lot of the paths were made new for the Pennine Way 51 years ago. As was maybe this sign, that must be the nicest "keep off the grass" warning that I've ever seen. Chris is walking with me for the next day and a half.

My Pennies, My Thoughts

My Pennies, My Thoughts. It’s supposed to be tough when you’re young. August 6, 2015. I live in Alberta’s largest city, and most expensive by far. I moved out of my parents house at 21 to live with my boyfriend. Who is now my loving husband. I’m 24, a recent Alberta School of Business grad. I’m almost halfway through my CPA designation and I work outrageous hours during busy season. All of this while being paid what a lot of people would consider pathetic. But I don’t think it’s supposed to be. In additi...

My Pennines

Thursday, 31 December 2015. My longest walk of the year, a near 15 mile exploration of Whernside and Scales Moor. It was third time lucky for me when I finally got a good view from Nine Standards Rigg. By the trig point on Calton Moor, the final one I hadn't visited in the Yorkshire Dales. Heading towards Mickle Fell on a cracking linear walk across the Warcop Range. The Minigaff Hills in Galloway as seen on my return to Loch Trool from Merrick. Perhaps also it is just a reflection of my obsessive nature...
