My Quilt Diary

Friday, April 6, 2018. It's taken some time. Finally I have assembled enough blocks that I think can be turned into a single bed size quilt. 35 crumb blocks and 24 setting blocks are done and ready to be joined together. I laid them out on the empty apartment floor and moved them around, trying to get a balance of color without getting the same fabrics in nearby blocks. Then I pinned numbers on each one so I know where they are to be sewed in strips. Meanwhile, I have a scouting event both this weekend a...

My Quilt Diary: June 2015

http://myquiltdiary.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Well, the backing for the quilt is assembled. I took it to the park yesterday afternoon for a picture and was planning to take the supplies to our church and borrow the floor of the fellowship hall to do the basting today. BUT Today it is raining and I have reconsidered, thinking of the walk to and from the stations at each end, carrying everything plus an umbrella. Tomorrow I have to go for choir practice anyway so I may as well go four or five hours earlier and do it then. I say...

My Quilt Diary: August 2015

http://myquiltdiary.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 28, 2015. Little by little I am getting things back to my old-fashioned normal. My recent goal being to sort out the picture problem. How is this for a picture? I don't know what these flowers are. They bloom along the wall in the spring and again in the late summer. They seem to have been happy that the rain brought a bit cooler weather. There is a yellow version too . And I think, in the past, there were some lavender ones as well. Using my template and starting in the center of one side...

My Quilt Diary: March 2015

http://myquiltdiary.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 30, 2015. After Friday's trip to Shakuji-koen, Ken's family spent Saturday with Norie's gang at drum-making event. We all met up again on Sunday at church, then I skipped out of choir practice for a lunch together and window-shopping along Omotesando. (Just looking is about all anyone could afford in that area) We had to check out "Kiddyland", of course, then split up because Norie and I needed to find party hats for Leia's Tuesday party. Leia got in lots of practice in a "big sister" mode.

My Quilt Diary: May 2015

http://myquiltdiary.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. For once this has nothing to do with my quilting unless I can count it as an interruption. Some of my blogging friends have asked me about the quake that occurred on Saturday. (it must have made a bit of news elsewhere). Considering the quake took place about 630 miles south of Tokyo and at a depth of about 678 km, (about as deep as the. Pacific tectonic plate reaches), at a magnitude of 8.1 it was felt over the whole of the Japan archipelago. Does all the recent activity from volca...

My Quilt Diary: Not melted yet

http://myquiltdiary.blogspot.com/2015/08/not-melted-yet.html

Thursday, August 6, 2015. Oh, but it is HOT here in Tokyo! Within the past week, 11,672 people were taken to the hospital with heat prostration. That is up from 7,743 people the week before. Of those, 25 have died and 312 are in serious condition requiring at least three weeks hospital stay. Of those affected, 5,689 are age 65 or above and Tokyo had the largest number of all the prefectures with 1,095. My friend had made a trip to the World Jamboree. I had been half hoping to go . I had attended the ...

Trying to find stitches of time. I am a busy homeschooling mama of five kiddos. I love to quilt, but am always trying to find stitches of time to do so. Sunday, June 23, 2013. I have pulled out some items to work on for the living room wallhanging. I just found out my dad is coming in a few weeks so I need to try to get the living and dining room painted and wallhangings done so that he can help me hang up some things while he's here. Well, I'm off to pick up the kitchen and run and grab a few groceries&...

Trying to find stitches of time. I am a busy homeschooling mama of five kiddos. I love to quilt, but am always trying to find stitches of time to do so. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. I think I'm shrinking! Saturday, January 26, 2013. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things with school. I'm not too motivated to do homework, I'd rather sit and quilt some. I have been knitting a few doll blankets for the girls. I hope to have them done by the end of the month. Saturday, January 19, 2013. I'm also ord...

Fast and Easy DIY Pull-String Pinata Tutorial. When searching for a pinata for Oscar's batman party, we couldn't find anything we liked (we weren't crazy about the idea of smashing batman's head open for some dubble bubble). We looked around the party supply store and Jeremy asked if maybe I could make something out of one of these lanterns - challenge accepted! Paper Lantern - I used round, but I'm guessing any shape would work. Tissue paper in desired colors. Slits in the paper, wire intact. Winning ri...

Через Куршскую косу пролегает путь перелетных птиц, поэтому это место идеально для кольцевания птичек. north winds quilting: December 2014

http://northwindsquilting.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Oh yeah, I finished another batch of Dakota Farmer blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. At least there was no color for December; but still, at this rate, it'll take me next year too to get this little quilt done. Links to this post. Labels: Rainbow Scrap Challenge. We're having a wintry mix of weather this week. I'm fine with the snow, but I hate ice and cold rain, which is probably mostly what we're getting this week. That I saw in their booth. It's black and white sub...

My quilt dream

La mia grande passione.Cucire! My great passion. to Sew! Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Un raggio di sole. Rieccomi dopo tanto tempo!
