Teacher Town

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Logged In and Running. Sunday, March 29, 2015. A Rare Old Craft. Note even close were we to the whaling expeditions of one famous Pequod- neither geographically or conceptually- but considering my few and far between ventures on the open water, this was a speed I could handle. Friday, March 27, 2015. I get a week with a bunch of ladies that I love down in Miami- me and my boys- and I bet I'll get some time to watch Netflix too. Thursday, March 26, 2015. Thanks for your kind words.

Teacher Town: Rough Edges, Smooth Finish

http://www.myteachertown.blogspot.com/2015/03/rough-edges-smooth-finish.html

Monday, March 16, 2015. Rough Edges, Smooth Finish. As we said good-bye, one of my sons said earnestly, "That was the best breakfast out I've ever had." Aren't we glad we got there when we did? March 17, 2015 at 7:13 PM. Aww - thats so sad that its closing! Glad you did get there. Hope the ride home was easy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Slice of Life Challenge 2015. Teacher Town: Good Sport

http://www.myteachertown.blogspot.com/2012/03/good-sport.html

Sunday, March 18, 2012. When our destination came within sight, I said, "Let's sprint to the end.". Nah," he said, but then he picked up the pace and sprinted on ahead. There was no way I'd catch up to him, his longer legs achieve a much broader stride then mine. As long as we were headed toward the same place, I was fine. March 18, 2012 at 10:15 PM. What an excellent meditation on your birthday! March 18, 2012 at 10:27 PM. March 18, 2012 at 10:32 PM. March 19, 2012 at 1:51 PM. More Slicers of Life.

Teacher Town: Birthday Retrospective

http://www.myteachertown.blogspot.com/2015/03/birthday-retrospective.html

Wednesday, March 18, 2015. How convenient it is that this annual Slice of Life writing challenge takes place through my birthday month. I kept a journal into my twenties, but I don't fill notebooks anymore with handwritten thoughts and observations. Today, I clicked through nearly 6 years of Teacher Town to read the snapshots I've taken of my life on this day (or approximately). It was more fun than iPhoto. Things that have made my birthday happy since 2010:. Delusions of a pickup line. In which I lost).

Thursday, March 18, 2010. March 18, 2010 at 6:41 PM. How true it is about the FB B-day messages. Id much rather receive a phone call or a card than a wall post on my FB page! Although those are nice too.). March 18, 2010 at 7:25 PM. Happy Birthday to you! It sounds like you had a fantastic day. Teacher Town: Road Trip Shift

http://www.myteachertown.blogspot.com/2015/03/road-trip-shift.html

Sunday, March 15, 2015. We hit the road to Delaware yesterday for my brother-in-law's wedding. It's a trip I've taken countless times since my own wedding- the big difference this time is that my oldest, 17, was behind the wheel. On 95. In a car loaded with three of my four most favorite people. He needed the experience of a long drive, so off we went. March 15, 2015 at 10:14 AM. March 15, 2015 at 12:54 PM. Such a meditation on control! Safe travels on your way home. March 16, 2015 at 8:46 PM.

Scattered Thoughts: August 2013

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 31, 2013. Fun, Fun, Fun. I'm up early for a Saturday collecting my things for what promises to be 36 hours of fun. First I get to take a road trip with two of the funniest gals I know. We've been friends for about 30 years so there is sure to be a lot of reminiscing and laughter as we make our way down Route 29 to the small town of Tryo. Once we arrive at our destination we'll meet up with a few more friends from way back-meaning more laughs, smiles and hugs. Let the games begin! After f...

Scattered Thoughts: September 2013

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 14, 2013. Drama at the Teeter. After a long day of teaching and yet another sinus headache I willed myself into the local Harris Teeter. Originally I thought I would head home first, change clothes, and maybe even take a walk- and then head to the market. Yeah, that didn’t happen. As soon as I stepped outside and ran smack into the humidity hanging in the September air I knew if I went home first I would surely never leave. That didn’t happen either. To lean on when shopping. Kids wer...

Scattered Thoughts: March 2014

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 31, 2014. The first car I remember belonged to my parents. It was a black Ford Fairlane. Somewhere there is a picture of me standing by the front door of that car in a beautiful blue dress with a white Peter Pan collar ready to embark on my first day of Kindergarten. I happen to know the dress is blue even though isn't evident in the black and white photo. According to my mother a trip over the bridge also meant I was probably going to be throwing up in the back seat. Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Scattered Thoughts: March 2015

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Stepping into Fat Harold's Beach Club was more like stepping back in time-back in time to the 40s, 50s, or 60s. You see, Fat Harold's is a dance club. It's a dance club that specializes in teaching the Carolina Shag- the state dance of North and South Carolina. Any child of the 80s may remember a teen movie of the very same name. Monday, March 30, 2015. Smells Like A Sale. It wasn't enough to make me stop in for shopping but I smile every time I think about it. Spring Break start...

Scattered Thoughts: July 2014

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 31, 2014. So I snore. I've snored for many years much to the frustration of those who may be sharing a room with me. I try to be accommodating about the whole thing by making sure I have plenty of earplugs to pass out. Even so I still have to hear all about the racket I make while slumbering the next morning. You're speaking to the congregation doc. I've been trying to tell my friends that for years! Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Watch Out For That Inflation Storm. Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

Scattered Thoughts: June 2015

Monday, June 22, 2015. Push It Around and Fry It Up. Tonight while making soft crabs I remembered the directions my grandmother gave me over 15 years ago. I had asked her for some expert advice on their preparation while visiting with her back in the late 1990s. Like many good foods the directions she gave were simple; pat the crab dry and then dip it into some egg, push it around in a little flour with salt and pepper, and then fry it up until it's ready to eat. Scattered Thoughts: Letter of Complaint

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2015/03/letter-of-complaint.html

Sunday, March 29, 2015. The sun is shining today. Thanks for that. The skies? Yes, they are bright and blue. A nice detail. From my seat on the couch I can see the red buds on the trees and birds flying about. Really, it looks just grand! I'm heading south in search of flip flop weather for a few days. I hope you get your act together by the time I get back. March 29, 2015 at 7:02 PM. Your letter of complaint is completely justified! March 29, 2015 at 7:02 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Walking the Dog: Don't Call Me Ishmael

http://tswalkingthedog.blogspot.com/2015/08/don-call-me-ishmael.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Dont Call Me Ishmael. Curious how some of the most terrible dangers of the sea from past centuries have become today's tourist attractions. Yesterday we sailed through scores of ice bergs (small ones to be sure, but genuine ice bergs never the less) to reach a glacier, and this afternoon our cruise director (not Julie, but Richard) gleefully announced that we would soon enter "whale water.". Scattered Thoughts: Spring Break Pre-Party

http://scatteredthoughtsmary.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-break-pre-party.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. Today was the last day of school for the third quarter. It was also the Friday before a 10-day spring break. Putting those two together pretty much equals chaos in sixth grade. Nobody wants to do much. Behavior can be challenging as both students and teachers count down the hours and minutes until a much needed break. Soda for miles. French fries galore. All you can eat pizza. Oh, and bowling- does it get any better than that? March 27, 2015 at 8:42 PM. View my complete profile.
