Introducing Thrifty Chick: October 2009

http://mythriftychick.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

A site that allows you over 100 ways to save money while looking like you do not need to. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Dining out on a low budget. Avoid appetizers; or split one with a friend. Eat dessert at home or share one with a friend to cut the cost. (Most are large enough for 3 or more people). Eat before going out to dinner. You'll spend less if you aren't starving. Drink water instead of other beverages that cost more money. Use coupons for restaurants so the expense is not as much. I am so cheap.

Our Continuing Saga: Christmas at Grandparents

http://carolynandorischris.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-at-grandparents.html

Friday, December 26, 2008. Chris' mother, Jan, cooks an amazing dinner every Christmas. (Better than any restaurant) She made prime rib this year and lobster bisque soup. Then she sends us home with the delicious leftovers so we could continue getting fat and she wouldn't. (ha ha) There is an ornament hanging from the chandelier that represents Great-Grammy watching over all of us. (she always enjoyed a party). We made his mother a photo book from Thanksgiving. Our Continuing Saga: October 2008

http://carolynandorischris.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 25, 2008. A week to go before Halloween, definitely time for the yearly orange squash hunt. I got a pumpkin a couple of weeks ago for the front porch, but that didn't count because it was from Whole Foods (it was just so amazing that THEY were selling large pumpkins for $3 I couldn't pass it up). But today we got four from a field and that is the only way to fly. The world, but it was fun and very "authentic". They were fun to look at, though. Sunday, October 5, 2008. There were a lot o...

http://carolynandorischris.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-at-aunt-tricias.html

Friday, December 26, 2008. Christmas at Aunt Tricia's. We ate great pizza and played Risk. The driveway was so bad that Tricia shuttled us in from Moon and State! It was great to have Stephen back from Brazil! We missed David, who is in Provo. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Other Blogs I Read. Tip of the Day. Christmas at Aunt Tricias. Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Weekend Trips Can Seem Like Mini-Vacations. With the economy this year, we may not be going to Disney World. We are blessed with jobs (in fact, I just started my summer extra job as an adjunct lecturer and am very busy), but many of our friends and family are not, so we may need to help. Also, Chris is working two jobs and it is hard to get time away. But we recently snuck away to Ohio (wow, big time huh? Went on some wild waterslides! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tip of the Day.

Our Continuing Saga: Toronto is One of the Coolest Cities!

http://carolynandorischris.blogspot.com/2009/05/toronto-is-one-of-coolest-cities.html

Sunday, May 17, 2009. Toronto is One of the Coolest Cities! Aaron needed a chaperone for his 6th grade school trip, so Mom volunteered. I got a little nervous the closer the trip got as it contained so many unknowns. One was how many kids would I be responsible for and would they be cooperative? We also had so much to do in so little time and some of it was stuff I wouldn't do on my own. But he really wanted me to do it and I'm glad I did, although it has taken two days to recover. I doubt many of the ki...

Our Continuing Saga: Christmas at Home

http://carolynandorischris.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-at-home.html

Friday, December 26, 2008. I didn't do a lot of decorating this year - only two wreaths outdoors. A little on the mantle. And the tree downstairs. This photo makes me look really bad, but Chris picked out such a cute string of new ornaments (he was really proud of himself) that I had to show it. There is a closeup of the blue elephant. We all enjoyed decorating the tree with our eclectic mix of ornaments collected over the past decades. Aaron finishes it off with real candy canes. Other Blogs I Read.

My Thrifty Family

Tuesday, June 21, 2011. In an effort to get rid of money-wasting habits and purchases, I cancelled my cellphone. We still have my husband's line and will be upgrading his phone (for "free") soon. I also cancelled our texting and camera phone options. This, with the other changes we will (hopefully) be making in our lives, may add up to a decent amount of savings. Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Fill a bag for a BUCK! We have a St. Vincent's Thrift Store that has an outside area where you can fill a bag for a buck. I've never stopped to look at the items before, but one day this little thing caught my eye. I knew just what I wanted it for, and it was not for it's current state. I had to restrain myself from ripping the junk off of it in the car on the way home. I think it is much happier in it's new home. And much prettier, too, without all of the junk and fluff.
