Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Monday, August 17, 2015. Part II of the Behold an Update! Series of updates. The author makes a hasty post before disappearing back into his man-cave once more, never to be seen. I've decided what to do for my "Coalition" (ie non-French) army. Still left to do:. 2 German Infantry battalions. Bavarian brigade (4 infantry battalions, artillery battery). 1/48 Stug III G.

La Patrie en Danger. Wargaming Napoleon's 1814 campaign. Resources for the 1814 Campaign. Sunday, 22 September 2013. One of the biggest obstacles to wargaming the 1814 campaign is the paucity of information available, the majority of books on the topic are terribly lacking in the detail that wargamers require. Order of battle information, if it’s included at all, is given at divisional level and the description of battles is far more narrative that I’ve found in books covering other campaigns. If you kno...

La Patrie en Danger: 1814 Campaign Overview
http://lapatrie1814.blogspot.com/2013/09/1814-campaign-overview.html
La Patrie en Danger. Wargaming Napoleon's 1814 campaign. Resources for the 1814 Campaign. Saturday, 28 September 2013. Napoleon’s position at the start of 1814 was precarious, he had in the previous two years lost two armies numbering. Approximately half a million men each. By January 1814 Naploeon was facing an invasion of France on multiple fronts. In total the Allies had close to one million men in the field (750,000 in the first line and 250,000 in reserve). To add to his trouble, as fortune always s...

La Patrie en Danger. Wargaming Napoleon's 1814 campaign. Resources for the 1814 Campaign. Resources for the 1814 Campaign. This is where I will add book reviews, webpages, magazine articles and other resources that I consider essential or useful to anyone attempting to wargame the 1814 campaign. As described in my last post, one of the biggest issues I have had with this campaign is the lack of a single source of information. Andrew Uffindell – Napoleon 1814 The Defence of France. Total Pageviews since S...

Battle Goats and Trumpets: July 2014

Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Friday, July 25, 2014. I decided right back when I first started my Vostroyans that they would have urban bases and pretty quickly came to the conclusion that instead of spending ages on every soldier's base (there are almost a hundred of them! From bare base to winter wonderland! Before. and after. The finished trooper ready for the battlefield. The view from above. In other news I ...

Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Wednesday, August 20, 2014. A subtle shift towards gaming. After a summer of working on my Vostroyans I am in need of a bit of a change up. One of the things that has been bugging me lately is that despite painting numerous figures I can't remember the last time I played a game of any system! The idea is that both players are given a set of written orders and are oblivious to those o...

Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Sunday, June 21, 2015. In the ultimate expression of my terrible addiction in miniatures and Napoleonics, I have traveled to Waterloo, Belgium to witness the re-enactment and commemorative ceremony of the 1815 Battle of Waterloo. It was good that I had managed to get tickets about 3-4 months in advance, as not only were tickets sold out roughly 2 months ago, but the site was packed.

Battle Goats and Trumpets: November 2014

Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Saturday, November 29, 2014. Small little beauties I painted about a month ago, which I had totally taken close up pictures of. These are one of my most favorite units in the war, and if anything, I believe we still see the influence of armored recon cars like these in modern armies, certainly in European armies. The modern German Fuchs armored car is basically a modernized 234/1.

Battle Goats and Trumpets. When armies run out of horses for cavalry. sometimes they must use goats. A hobby painting log! Saturday, March 28, 2015. Got a new phone, so this means better pictures! What better way to show off my horse artillery. than showing them with their brigade together? And that's it for now - started work on the Austrians again to switch it up a little to make sure I'm not bored by repetition! Tuesday, March 24, 2015. And about damn time too. So, an update! So at the moment, I'm cur...
