Napoleonic Wargames project: October 2010

http://napoleonicwargamesproject.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Painting British/allied and French armies of the Waterloo campaign using 28mm miniatures. Saturday, 30 October 2010. Test paint - Hanoverian Landwehr. While I'm waiting for my French Hussars. To arrive I thought I would try a simple conversion that I saw on the 'KippersMinis'. Anyway, I'm very pleased with them and will do a full battalion in the future no doubt. Tuesday, 26 October 2010. With our eldest daughter getting married in five weeks time things seem to be a blur of dresses, (we have 3 daughters...

Napoleonic Wargames project: Gribeauval system question.

http://napoleonicwargamesproject.blogspot.com/2011/01/gribeauval-system-question.html

Painting British/allied and French armies of the Waterloo campaign using 28mm miniatures. Friday, 21 January 2011. I'm painting a couple more French artillery bases, and using Front Rank guns for the first time. The carriage is entirely different from the Perry version, really chunky and shorter. My question is was the carriage standardised or were they built in different sizes depending on weight of the barrel? I have painted the other 8 FR 95th Rifles so that unit are now all FR metal. Napoleonics but ...

Napoleonic Wargames project: September 2010

http://napoleonicwargamesproject.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Painting British/allied and French armies of the Waterloo campaign using 28mm miniatures. Tuesday, 28 September 2010. Orses' and Sir Thomas Picton! I recall being quite moved as a teenager at the sight of Pictons top hat, torn open by a musket ball, in the National Army Museum in London, among many other Waterloo relics. Wellington of course discouraged the use of umbrellas by his staff but Picton, being the character that he was, continued to carry his! This little figure was a joy to paint. On the pain...

Building 20mm (1/72) armies for the Russian, British, French and Turkish forces of the Crimean war using plastic figures. Monday, 29 September 2008. So why the Crimea? Well for me it was the very first wargame I ever saw! Back in the mid seventies I picked up a Sunday suppliment and inside was a feature on wargaming. It featured some amazing pictures of a Crimean war collection of over 1,000 figures it looked great and I was hooked! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wargaming blogs I follow!

When firing prone, they fire at full effect (not quarter effect as for muzzle loaders). They always receive an 'up 1 row shift' on the small arms firing chart to reflect increased rate of fire. Pictures show the completed sharpshooters and an ...

Napoleonic Wargame Rules

Saturday, June 25, 2016. This is the first major update of the rules since they were written in 2011. The rules have been used on our wargames table on most days since they were first written. We normally play one campaign wargame each week, and each game lasts twelve moves. So the rules have been well play tested. They have stood the test of time with only minor adjustments. When the rules were written my wife and I were running a solo 1813 campaign. For example each campaign day was 12 hours long.

Saturday, 7 April 2018. Revised Leon Campaign Strategic Map. Original Strategic Map of Leon Phase. Last week I explained that the strategic map was used for campaign movement and to illustrate daily locations on the campaign diary blog. I posted a copy of the latest map, which is above. When the campaign was PBEM I always used the wargames map, because it was important that each player could see in advance exactly what the wargames table would look like. Revised Strategic Map of Leon Phase. Because they ...
