http://babyjacksonsheart.blogspot.com/2008/07/surgery-update-400.html
Boy with a big heart. Thursday, July 24, 2008. Praise our merciful God! Jackson's surgery went well. He has been moved to the ICU where he will be recovering for the next couple of days. I'll post more in a few hours, but the doctors are very pleased with the operation. He should be brought out of sedation sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. I've been waiting and watching all day for this news! I'll keep praying for a speedy recovery! July 24, 2008 at 4:16 PM. July 24, 2008 at 4:20 PM. I am 4 miles fro...

Thursday, August 20, 2009. CS Lewis once said to an old friend. During my afternoon "meditations,"—which I at least attempt quite regularly now—I have found out ludicrous and terrible things about my own character. Sitting by, watching the rising thoughts to break their necks as they pop up, one learns to know the sort of thoughts that do come. I catch myself posturing before the mirror, so to speak, all day long. I pretend I am carefully thinking out what to say to the next pupil (for. Building a Cultur...

Monday, March 10, 2008. Voices in My Head. I wonder what the conversation would be like if Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen. John of the Cross, Jonathan Edwards, Augustine, John Piper, Tim Keller, Bruce Waltke. And Eugene Petersen sat down to have a meal together? That's what they're doing in my head, and they dine often. But then something happens. God-time, invades the chaotic clamor awkwardly progressing through. Thursday, March 6, 2008. One Step in a Journey from Fear to Love. The walls protect me. Better...

boy with a big heart: First Smile...
http://babyjacksonsheart.blogspot.com/2008/07/first-smile.html
Boy with a big heart. Sunday, July 27, 2008. Jed and I are so happy to announce that Jackson gave his first beautiful smile, since the surgery, on Saturday night! Yesterday (Sunday), Jackson's first chest tube was removed and the second remaining tube was removed this morning. Praise God! Removal of the chest tubes is a great indicator that Jackson is healing as he should and it gives him much needed comfort as those chest tubes are not comfortable in the slightest! January, Jed and Jackson. Praise our h...

Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Redemptive Community and Homosexuality. I found this article. Incredibly insightful, a great challenge to the Christian church, and a breath of fresh air to those in our congregations whose experience of Christianity is as a stifling coffin which the church has constructed for their souls. Can the church rise to the challenge and be a redemptive community that mediates the love of God to those whose cross to bear is heavier than our own? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Batter My Heart by John Donne. Batter my heart, three personed God; for you. As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;. That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me and bend. Your force to break, blow, burn and make me new. I, like an usurped town, to another due,. Labour to admit you, but Oh, to no end;. Reason, your viceroy in me, should defend,. But is captived and proves weak or untrue. Yet dearly I love you and would be loved fain,. But am betrothed unto your enemy:.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Does God Get Disappointed? Here's a quote from Obama on disappointment and motivation:. Does God motivate us with guilt and disappointment? Disappointment generally has a lot to do with failed expectations. Do we fail to meet God's expectations? Are commandments and expectations the same thing, because obviously we fail to obey his commands? I've had this conversation with a number of people lately and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. The eucharist is a proclamation of salvation in which we consume Christ who truly meets our needs while simultaneously proclaiming Him Lord. The goods and services in our market saturated society function as a false eucharist which has the embedded proclamtion that we consume to meet our needs while we remain Lord. There is a delightful article in this month's Christianity Today by Tyler Wigg-Stevenson titled " Jesus Is Not a Brand.
