With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): January 2015
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Thursday, January 29, 2015. White Mountain Classic 30k. And first lady, but in the important race of the day, Rob beat me. CSU won both the men's and women's one-day Club Championship award. It was a nailbiter right to the end for the women, dependent upon Sara Mae (78 yo great grandmother, and founder of CSU) to finish the race. She did, and we won! Frigid windblown fields made up half the skate course. Lovely soft conditions, though! Tuesday morning I was p...

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): May 2015
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Tuesday, May 26, 2015. It's been pretty quiet around here, but training for Scotland is going well, and life is great, if a little busy. We've had a lovely spring, really no stupidly hot days yet, and this just puts me in such a good mood. The 2015 Boston Park Series. And since it's the first year nobody really knows how it's all going to work, but we do know that we're seeing a higher quality race at the Challenge races. NE Challenge Stage 1. I ran well, spi...

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): December 2014
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Tuesday, December 23, 2014. I don't understand. The good news is that each skiing effort feels just a little bit better, so I'm slowly starting to race myself into shape. Ski-o in Norway in two months may not be pretty, but at least it hopefully won't be too pathetic. Pretty pissed about that one. CSU coaches have a thing about bacon. So, Amie got us some bacon tote bags, which is pretty damn awesome. Saturday, December 13, 2014. There was an impromptu race o...

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): The Billygoat: Baldwin Hill edition
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-billygoat-baldwin-hill-edition.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Thursday, May 15, 2014. The Billygoat: Baldwin Hill edition. The 2014 Billygoat is in the books, and I retained my guardianship of the ugly Billygoat doorstop. This yours-for-a-year prize has been in rotation since 1999, according to the signatures on the back, and each year it goes to the winner of the Billygoat. There are two of these; one for the female winner and one for the male. I won the goat. Line 'em up, shout "go! And see what happens. I define myse...

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): JK 2015: The good, the bad and the ugly
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015/04/jk-2015-good-bad-and-ugly.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Tuesday, April 14, 2015. JK 2015: The good, the bad and the ugly. Given that this trip was largely made for WOC preparation, I've done a good bit of analysis since returning home. I figured I'd share some of it. If you're not an orienteering nerd, you may want to skip this post. Thanks to Wendy Carlyle for the photo! Mode, it looks for the biggest one, and if the hill in question is only a single contour, that's not very big. But I'll focus on a few legs....

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): The JK International Festival of Orienteering
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-jk-international-festival-of.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Wednesday, April 8, 2015. The JK International Festival of Orienteering. We saw one wrapped in a plastic bag, and Ross figured it was just pre-packaged for shipping. Maybe that wasn't the actual reason for the plastic bag, but it seems plausible. The Lakes District is high on my list of places to come back to at some point in my life with more time. The North American relay is actually named in honor of Björn Kjellström, not Jan. Jan was Björns nephew. JK 201...

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): March 2015
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Tuesday, March 31, 2015. 2015 US Orienteering Championships. This is one of the awesome natural bridges, that we ran right over during the middle distance race! I didn't notice it at the time, or at least I didn't notice that it was a bridge, but I'm glad I went back there after the race to look around. More cool slot-canyon-esque rocks I found on the model event. Between my sports bra being tight around my ribs (yay for my lats appearing, a month too late!

With a little luck (and a lot of hard work...): April 2015
http://alexjospe.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
With a little luck (and a lot of hard work.). Wednesday, April 22, 2015. The Billygoat is a really awesome orienteering race, with a fair amount of history. I've won it the last two years, at Baldwin Hill. Click for full map with route choices). Thanks to Clem for these photos. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. JK 2015: The good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks to Wendy Carlyle for the photo! From my forking tell the story, simply not fast enough. My calves, still pretty unused to this whole soft-surface running...
