Friday, August 24, 2012. Expired safety certificate delays Labrador ferry. The M/V Northern Ranger was delayed for almost six hours on Thursday. Courtesy Government of Nunavut). The Labrador coastal boat Northern Ranger was delayed almost six hours in Postville Thursday because its passenger safety certificate had expired on Aug. 15. Transport Canada wouldn't let the ship sail until the matter was cleared up. The vessel was supposed to depart at 3 pm Labrador time, but never got going until 8:40 pm.
