このブログではヨーロッパでのことを書いているが、僕は日本もヨーロッパもどちらがすばらしいとも悪いとも思っていない。ただ本質を捉えている環境というのは存在する。たまたまそれがベルギーにあったというだけだ。よくなぜヨーロッパなのか、ベルギーなのかと聞かれる。本質的に自分がいいと思うものをつくりたい。そう考えたときに、ここに来る選択に出会ったというのが正直なところだ。 そして今思っているのは、論考も批評も大切だが、つくることが最も重要だということ。デザインプロセスについて考え始めている僕が言うのも矛盾するが、過程も大事だが、やはりかたちとなる結果、実現させるということが最も重要だと僕は考える。しかもそれがどこまで純粋な思考を反映させているかということにこだわりたい。だからこそ表現だと思う。 12300;かたち」は思考の結晶である。その思考を多くの人と共有するデザインプロセスがある。つくること、結果にこだわることと、プロセスを考えること。相反する２つのことを解く先に現代性が見えてくると思う。 先日参加したオープンコンペの結果が出た。久しぶりの負け。２等。いい提案だったの...結果は悔しいが、潔い負...

ラカトン＆ヴァッサルのETHでの講演の動画を見る。あまり詳しく設計思想に触れることがなかったが、対費用効果を重視しつつ、グリーンハウスをキーに自らの表現につながえてくあたりに共感を覚える。倫理的な思想が根幹にあった上で表現につなげようとしている。 出来上がった建築は少々無機質な感じがあるが、内と外の関係性、気候のコントロールに思考の中心があるので結果このようになっているようだが、実際体感してみないとなんともいえないのでお隣のフランスまで見に行こうかと思っている。基本的なフレームを用意し、あとは利用者が色を加えていくことで空間になる。システムを用意するというこういった設計思想がどういった空間を生み出しているのかに興味が惹かれた。 This blog is about engineering, design and everyday life in europe.

日本に戻って2ヶ月があっという間に過ぎた。1週間ほど休みをとったが、それ以降は事務所開設と同時に新しく仕事が入ったり、出張があったりと慌ただしい日々になっている。欧州から戻ってみると日本は生活のスピードが早い。早すぎる。ブリュッセルという小さな街にいたこともあるのだと思う。 帰国後最も大きく感じるのは、東京は、極端に人工的に綺麗な場所か、殺伐とした混沌か、居心地のよい空間を見つけるのに苦労する。ただ1点、ゴミがなく異常にきれいなことは日本だと思う。また東京に限らないが、他人との距離が遠い。コミュニティと騒ぐのも無理はない。ヨーロッパが全ていいわけではなく、向こうは向こうで面倒な事や不便さがたくさんあるのだが。 そういえばこんなニュースも。 国際コンペまで実施した平和大橋歩道橋が建設中止。 国際コンペと大きく謳って、この結果はあってはいけないことである。自ら道は切り開くしかないのが今の日本の現状なのだと思う。 This blog is about engineering, design and everyday life in europe.

今年は事務所でアイスランド、スイスのコンペを幾つかやった。結果は2等、5等、ショートリストとどれも惜しいところで落ちている。当選案を見るとどのような方向が好まれているのかがわかり、どちらの国もシンプルな提案が好まれる傾向がある。 僕達の事務所の提案もベルギーやオランダのコンペの時とは異なり、シンプルな方向での提案なのだが、アイスランドでは少々シンプルすぎたり、スイスではもう少し要素を絞ったほうがよかったりとなかなか難しい。 This blog is about engineering, design and everyday life in europe.
