Thursday, September 30, 2010. Primordial (Below Heaven and Earth). The third track from Smear Campaign, Primordial, is probably the most complex of the entire album. It's name comes in two parts. First, Primordial came from the film Altered States, which I happened to be watching one day while working on the track. A pretty good film, I must add. Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Was it, or Was it Not, Progress? After sitting in the studio for about 2 hours this evening, completely failing to expand my musical portfolio, I wondered how one can truly measure productivity in music. Does it have to be audible or visible in a wave form? I managed to collectively crash my studio programs a good number of times, some of which completely locked my sound driver. It may not seem productive, but I suppose I learned what not. I've never had this problem before!

Thursday, April 14, 2011. Despite how it may seem, there have been a number of things going on. From an artist standpoint, I've been doing fairly well. Tracks have been written, templates have been shaped, programs have been updated, my library has been condensed, the studio has been organized, my workstation has been upgraded, old projects are being properly archived and backed up. Of course few of you would know this, as I have been doing a less than optimal job of keeping everyone informed.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010. As some may have noticed, it has been a dark period on this blog. This silence wasn't intended to be a statement of shallow progress, but rather a growth and structuring period. There was plenty going on, all of which could have been shared here, but I had to ask myself "would anyone really want to read about such tedious and uninteresting tasks? My silence was meant to spare everyone the agony of wading through my rants and hardships revolving around this transitional period.

Sunday, May 23, 2010. The last couple of nights I set out to extend upon this single theme idea. The ideas were racing in my head, at points moving so quickly I wasn't quite sure how to put them down. Thankfully the late night session on Saturday produced an arrangement I can truly stand by. Looking back at the progression, if I hadn't recognized and accepted the issues and persisted despite them, I would have never created this new piece, which I truly look forward to sharing with you all in due time.
