Maroc, je t'aime. Tales of life and service in the Moroccan countryside. I'm ruining my host brother's life. I've mentioned my host family before, but I've refrained from going into depth about my host brother until this post. My host brother, whom I shall refer to as Host Brother, is the love of my (Moroccan) life. He's my best friend and biggest fan here in my community, and the feelings are mutual. He's saving his centimes. To come back to. Oh, he's also five years old. Host Brother has asserted himse...

But only if you promise not to judge me too hard, should you find my blog inferior. Because it might be. Bonus: I'll also be listed there soon! That's kinda neat to think about. :) Let's just hope that I get placed in a site with electricity and enough internet juice (that's a technical term) to let me update occasionally. Hence, my post will end abruptly. I have so ...

Maroc, je t'aime. Tales of life and service in the Moroccan countryside. Rachid, my APM. Rachid's right, folks. I've taken the oath and am now an official Peace Corps Volunteer - or PCV, for those who love acronyms. I can't say that I feel like a brand new person, or that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. but I'm. Also, before I forget, my address is changing now that I'm moving to my final site, down (or is it up? And I'll have a place to call home soon. :). Bullet points are cool, too.

Maroc, je t'aime.: May 2009

http://www.nicoleinmorocco.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Maroc, je t'aime. Tales of life and service in the Moroccan countryside. I was never much for rollercoasters, but. This week has been an emotional one. The volunteer I replaced left on Monday, and things went downhill briefly after that. My hostmom doesn't handle stress in constructive ways, and I took an emotional blow that afternoon, when she voiced her opinion that I will not, ever, understand Tashlheit. That was, far and away, my lowest point in country thus far. Speaking of, in the middle writing th...

Newer posts →. June 19, 2009 · 5:56 pm. Today’s “basic” element of my Moroccan life: Food (AKA Tea, bread, and other things that may be occasionally be served provided there is also tea and bread). While my dentist would surely disagree, I think I lucked out with Moroccan food. That’s not to say my town is the New York Times culinary destination of the year. And nearly everyone in the town has plots of land to grow wheat, apricots, apples, figs, mint, tuya and lfsa (feed for cows and donkeys). Many p...

After 2 months of intensive language training and super intensive fly-extermination, I swore in as a Peace Corps Volunteer and moved to the site where I will spend the next 2 years. Thursday, 6 September 2012. A Weekend in Kitale. Two months since last post - where has the time gone. The normalcy I spoke of in the previous post has become high octane!
