Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable: Definately Springy!
http://nigelgnomegrowsavegetable.blogspot.com/2015/08/definately-springy.html
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Little signs everywhere of spring on the prowl, the snowball tree is hinting at buds, the plum tree very much so, and the prunus has popped pink (albeit a week later than last year). Applied copper spray to the roses and plum and nectarine tree. Planted out 37 home grown leek seedlings and a set of red sails letuce seedlings. Still picking a good bag of tender stems broccoli every second day, so nice and so easy.
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable: Shortest day!
http://nigelgnomegrowsavegetable.blogspot.com/2015/06/shortest-day.html
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Nine hours of daylight, not a lot of time but enough to do a few tasks in the garden. I planted some heritage purple broccoli we bought from a great organics store in Napier last weekend. They bring our broccoli plantings to 25, should keep us happy I'd say. A cute fantail with only one tail feather was flitting about this afternoon. Posted by Nigel Gnome. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable: Beanless but there is hope of carrot
http://nigelgnomegrowsavegetable.blogspot.com/2015/04/beanless-but-there-is-hope-of-carrot.html
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Monday, April 20, 2015. Beanless but there is hope of carrot. I cut the stems leaving the roots in the ground enabling them to add nitrogen to the soil over winter. Last beans and more chillies. Home made garden sieve. The plantings of beetroot, silver beet and tender stem broccolli are all going well, the days are still in the 20's and the mornings at 10 (though there have been a few down to 4 a few days ago, prompting the inaugural fire lighting).
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable: Crispy frosty
http://nigelgnomegrowsavegetable.blogspot.com/2015/07/crispy-frosty.html
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Monday, July 13, 2015. We are in the middle of a fosty patch, the last few mornings the car has been white and patches of lawn have been dusted. The lovely tender stem broccoli have been loving it. Quick pick of broccoli bits. Lettuce and parlsey under wire to keep the blackbirds off the compost. Posted by Nigel Gnome. Monday, July 13, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable: Carrots are up!
http://nigelgnomegrowsavegetable.blogspot.com/2015/04/carrots-are-up.html
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. My lovely prepared soil must work, the carrot seedlings are just peeping out, the recent rain hasn't harmed them at all even though it has been quite heavy at times. A lovely gift from friend, a handsome grey pupkin, the best. :). Lovely grey pumpkin detail. The forest pansy tree has been dropping it's leaves very quickly in the last few days, they look lovely on the lawn. Autumn is definetely here. Posted by Nigel Gnome.

Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable
Nigel Gnome grows a vegetable. In Whakatane, New Zealand. Thursday, March 29, 2018. And the end of daylight saving :(. And we do get an extra hours' sleep in the morning and it will be lighter when we get up :). But it will all be doom and gloom earlier in the garden in the evenings after work :(. I've planted 6 mini broccoli plants, some cool sounding peas from Kings Seeds, 'Carouby' and there are dozens of silver beet seedlings that will need pricking out, ready for the winter stuff. Not the native one...
