Beginnings: Underpass
http://morepaintonthefloor.blogspot.com/2012/10/blog-post.html
Friday, 5 October 2012. Underpass' Oil on linen board 420 mm x 300 mm. A late September day spent standing and painting on a public footpath/cycleway on Deeside industrial park. I'd wandered for a while, trying to get an interesting angle. The trouble with industrial areas is that everywhere is out-of-bounds and fenced-off. I settled on this view because it was graphic and. Quite striking. You can see its progress in stages, below. Blocking in the painting. 5 October 2012 at 11:00. Is this in Greenfield?

May 2015 Fine Art Connoisseur. ROOTED IN THE PAST. A VISION FOR TODAY. From one side, the painter Nigel Van Wieck (b. 1947) appears to be the proverbial “Englishman in New York,” having discovered Old Master aesthetics and made them his own since 1979, when he immigrated to the U.S. But from the other side, we see the quintessentially American practitioner of contemporary realism he has become during those same three and a half decades. The matter of solitude is pertinent: when he was just 18 months old,...
