Jenna: CIVILITY IN POLITICS
http://yeptisjenna.blogspot.com/2011/01/civility-in-politics.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. 1- In Linda Chavez' column, she begins with the phrase, "Civility in public discourse is important." This phrase illustrates that decency or politeness is key when speaking to the public. Not that certain sayings should be avoided because of the opinions of some, but that foul language should not be used and can clearly be eluded. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Air Freshener Law Changed? In Matt Helm's article, Fuzzy Dice, he writes about banning objects that hang from your rear view mirror. There has been a request to change the law since no one obeys it. Unless it's large and an obvious obstruction, it's just silly for police to pull somebody over for that. People aren't hurting anybody and they're not causing any danger.". Monday, November 1, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Air Freshener Law Changed? View my complete profile.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Conserve, Reuse, Recycle. Thursday, December 9, 2010. Savior of the Nations Come. The use of the word enthroned strengthens the meaning of Luther’s message. He could have easily put in the word adored or holy, but instead, uses enthroned. When I read enthroned, it gives me the image that He is sitting on his throne up in Heaven watching everything and knowing all. If he would have used the word holy or adored, it would not have given me that same, strong effect.

Thursday, January 27, 2011. It is quite obvious that in Chavez's opening sentence, she believes while civility is a necessary component to debate, our public discourse and political discussions should not take a back seat in the midst of tragic events and heated arguments. Thursday, November 4, 2010. What is hanging from your rear-view mirror? I call it a 'gotcha' law. It's an excuse to pull someone over." This is the best quote because quite honestly, it is very true. In this economy police still have to make their quota of tickets and this is just another excuse for a ridiculous ticket. Policemen could make their quota in one day if they really set out to do it. Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Word Choice and Civility. In her first 6 words Chavez is stating her assertion. She wants everybody to know that civility is incredibly important because people do get offensive and certain words should not be used in public.
