Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Sunday, 22 March 2015. Our 13th anniversary do. Last Saturday, we celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary at home with some friends. The pale lilac coloured orchids were specially sourced for the occasion from an orchid farm. While waiting, guests nibbled on fresh cauliflower and aïoli spiced with piment d'Espelette. First course was an easy choice - foie gras with some apple confit and a slice of kundang, a local fruit that has a rather tangy mango flavour.

Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Tuesday, 24 February 2015. Tiniest toads from the water's edge. As I was relaxing by a boulder on the edge of a jungle stream on a hot day, I saw something tiny moving: a tiny toad the size of a 5 cent coin! And there were 3 of them. They were making a mossy boulder at the stream's edge their home under the shades of a Saracca thaipingensis. Home of the tiny toads.clearwater streams through dense forests. NL LIEW's Blog: July 2015
http://nlliew66.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Thursday, 16 July 2015. A quiet day at Habu Boh Plantation. On the eve of Hari Raya, I figured it would be quiet to be at the hills with everyone busy at home or stuck in traffic jams - my hunch was right (till Habu only I imagine) and we had a pleasant and quiet mid morning till noon at Habu (later it got noisier).priceless. When we arrived there were only like 3 tables and so sights like this is rare. Got ourselves the necessary. An eucalyptus hill ahead.

Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Thursday, 18 June 2015. Autumn market at Besançon. Autumn for me is always synonymous with bright fruits, strong aroma of the market place and lots and lots of pumpkin and late summer flowers on sale. Of course, it is also time to sniff out the freshly picked mushrooms and oysters if you live near the sea. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Photos in this Site. Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Monday, 27 October 2014. Moths of Sg. Sia. A friend did some moth photography using a Natrium light but I only went the next morning so most of the moths had already flew off back to the forest, leaving a handful behind. Nevertheless, they are amazing in term of colour and shape.the white-washed wall looked like a stealth bomber graveyard with UFOs littering the place. Tuesday, 21 October 2014. NL LIEW's Blog: Dinner with friends
http://nlliew66.blogspot.com/2015/08/dinner-with-friends.html
Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Last Saturday, some friends from KL came for a dinner which was promised and hopefully delivered.I chose the theme of autumn because it was my first impression of France many years ago. The table was set to my usual liking, plain and white. Quartered vine-ripe tomatoes with tuna bits. Liked this one: Pernod-vanilla flavoured pan-fried shrimp. This is quite a simple yet surprisingly flavourful delice:. 1/2 butternut pumpkin (around 500g).

Reminiscences and logs of daily adventures. Thursday, 21 August 2014. A friend came visiting from Singapore and I decided to throw in a quick-fix dinner with whatever we had in our magic box - the fridge! We chose a more colourful theme for the table this time.it was in tandem with the festivities around us. Chose a simple local dish to start: prawns in spicy tumeric sauce with pineapple:. 1/2 kilo of medium sized prawns, intact. 1 medium-sized pineapple, diced. 1 1/2 inch of fresh tumeric, pound with:.
