Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B: Prepping for a show

http://notesfromstudiob.blogspot.com/2015/08/prepping-for-show.html

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B. The Weekly Leaf, year #2. The Weekly Leaf, year 3. Monday, August 10, 2015. Prepping for a show. I have a show coming up in Corvallis, OR, at the Arts Center. I just spent a couple of days putting hanging wire on the backs and then a backing with a label. It's amazing how much time it took to get that done! Good thing I didn't wait any longer. I have a lot of Lutrador in both black and white, so that is what I fused to the back, after I fused labels to each piece.

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B. The Weekly Leaf, year #2. The Weekly Leaf, year 3. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Gardening, mainly pulling weeds, has been my main focus this week. But, I do have a quick video to share. There has been a process video made of my 12 x 12 donation quilt for SAQA (Studio Art Quilts Association). The first four weeks have been sewn together. Linked to " Off the Wall Friday". Labels: daily stitching project. Thursday, May 21, 2015. We've spent the last nine days on a road trip.

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B: February 2015

http://notesfromstudiob.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B. The Weekly Leaf, year #2. The Weekly Leaf, year 3. Monday, February 23, 2015. Most of this past week has been spent quilting a 4' x6' whole cloth background for last years weekly leaves. I've only got a few more outline rows to go, then I'll block it, cut it to size, face it and then the real work of sewing each of the 52 squares on. This is how it looked yesterday. Print I forgot to take a picture until I'd cleaned everything up, but here's the results. I put it on...

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B: January 2015

http://notesfromstudiob.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Linda McLaughlin: Notes from Studio B. The Weekly Leaf, year #2. The Weekly Leaf, year 3. Monday, January 26, 2015. Earlier this month I took a one day class in watercolor. The first thing we were to do was sketch the still life that was set up in the middle of the room. My immediate thought was "I'm in over my head". I never sketch, I can, but I don't. So now I'm trying to remedy that by taking an online class from Jane LaFazio. This week I got out the gelli. The weekly leaf #4, yr2. I also finished a s...

Beyond Patchwork: March 2014

http://beyondpatchworkcornwall.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 16 March 2014. On Saturday Carolyn and I were invited to take our Manipulated Fabric Workshop to Carn Brea Quilters, we had a such a lovely day with a group of hospitable and talented ladies, who worked at full speed to create enough blocks to construct a small wall hanging. There's just a few pieces to add, then finishing touches with hand embellishments and beads, I think you'll agree they are going to look fabulous. Friday, 14 March 2014. Update and Recycled Experiments. Tomorrow we are off to...

Jeanne Aird's Art Fabric and Quilts. Sunday, June 12, 2016. California Drought and Our old Oak Tree. You can see the rust colored part of the tree to the right and above the basketball hoop where the branch broke off. I'd say a quarter of the tree came down. Other than dealing with that, school is out for the students. And one last professional day for me Monday. Yeah! Sunday, June 5, 2016. Hand Quilting and Symmetrical Design. Here are a couple of them. Jeanne Aird's Art Fabric and Quilts. Friday, December 30, 2016. Paint and Dye with Itajime. This is the last piece from my dyeing session a few weeks ago. It started as an experiment using paint and whiffle balls. I did some itajime folding and clamping as you see below. After clamping, I applied dye and let it batch for about 24 hours. Here's the finished piece, which I feel has a lot more depth and complexity. Wishing all my readers a very Happy New Year! Paint and dye on fabric. Here's one I over-dyed...

Thursday, 24 October 2013. Today's Fabric Collage Workshop. We had eight lovely ladies join us today, some having been on workshops with us before and some that were new to us, but all had an amazing stash of gorgeous bits to add to their Fabric Collages, which as usual gave Carolyn and myself itchy fingers. Everyone was happy to experiment and try something new, colour was added with paints, printing and painted Bondaweb. Here's a selection of photos to share with you. Monday, 21 October 2013. From meatballs to Ikea, from snow to saunas. Wednesday, February 14, 2007. We've just got back from a fantastic week snowboarding with our English friends Carrie and Simon and Swedes Andreas and David. We hired a little log cabin and have had an action packed week of snowboarding, sledging, 'sauna-challenges' (ruuning outside in the snow after a sauna! And an eventful ski scooter ride where Daniel crashed and nearly broke my hip! Snowboarding seemed a lot easier than last year. Just admiring the view!
