A charity intern in Glasgow: December 2010
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Friday, 24 December 2010. In a New York minute. There's a song by The Eagles that goes "In a New York minute, everything can change.". That pretty much describes the moment in the car, with my mum, when I suddenly decided that acting wasn't for me and I wanted to do something else. After a major freakout, having wanted to act since I played Cinderella in Year 2, I decided Events Management was for me. And best of all I know I'm helping people while furthering my career. So th...

A charity intern in Glasgow: Run around the Shops/Run for Oxfam
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/2010/12/run-around-shopsrun-for-oxfam.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Thursday, 16 December 2010. Run around the Shops/Run for Oxfam. Did you know that the average woman will walk more than a marathon when Xmas shopping? And that she will burn more calories? I didn't know that either until I started thinking about ways I can show potential runners that a marathon isn't out of reach. You just sometimes have to think about it in a different way. The week before had been filled with stress. Will the snow stop us getting there? Running, Oxfam Edinb...

A charity intern in Glasgow: Update - #TwitterJobChallenge
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/2011/04/update-twitterjobchallenge.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Thursday, 14 April 2011. On Tuesday I began the #TwitterJobChallenge as set by the Guardian. The idea was simple - I had to tweet 5 companies/charities that I would like to work for and see what response I got. Below are the tweets that I sent:. The things they have in common are:. They have a good online presence. They are in or work with the Third Sector, Sport or Theatre. A job with them would give me an opportunity to be creative, fundraise or grow the company/charity.

A charity intern in Glasgow: Did you see John? Centre Point's advertising campaign is fantastic
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/2011/03/did-you-see-john-centre-points.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Sunday, 27 March 2011. Did you see John? Centre Point's advertising campaign is fantastic. While flicking through the Big Issue this week I saw Centre Point's fundraising advert. The above is a screen shot of their landing page www.centrepointroom.org.uk/john38. Have a look on page 30. Did you see him? Or did you look past him and carry on with your life? The advert is good because:. It highlights the invisibility of the homeless in our society. It could be even better if:.

A charity intern in Glasgow: Being an Intern
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/p/being-intern.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Being an Intern is a bit of a controversial subject at the moment. It's something I hadn't thought I would end up doing after leaving uni but wrongly or rightly they are becoming more common. Personally, I know I'm very lucky to be in the position of having family in Glasgow and having my parents to help out. Otherwise I would be trying to find many smaller placements punctuated by bar jobs. Interns 'should be paid £2.50-an-hour training wage'. When internships pay off. I am ...

A charity intern in Glasgow: About Me
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. I am currently interning at Oxfam Scotland as the Edinburgh Marathon Festival Project Manager. I graduated from University last September and took an internship to help cement what I would like to do for a career. I've decided that a role that encompasses marketing and events management is for me. I'm blogging along the way to reinforce what I'm learning - and because I have lots of opinions. I'm living in Glasgow and have fallen in love with the city. Did you see John? Notes...

A charity intern in Glasgow: Glasgow Life
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/p/glasgow-life.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. I've been in Glasgow a while now so thought I would share my favourite places. In the West End is amazing! I've gone here a few times for lunch and dinner. It's a very cool venue and is based on the speakeasies in the 1920s. The decor is dark and dramatic and they play old movies all day/night. They also do an afternoon tea but with a twist. Instead of tea in your teapot there is martini. Has a Cinema, 2 bars, a cafe and a restaurant. They serve very good cosmopolitans. Subsc...

A charity intern in Glasgow: January 2011
http://interninglasgow.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
A charity intern in Glasgow. Monday, 24 January 2011. Can Charities Exploit a Different Social Media? I recently read an article in "Marketing Week". Yet a lot of the answers seem to only focus on Facebook and Twitter and ignore other methods. Technology is exciting isn't it! Off to update my Twitter and Facebook - still the best ways to share a link. Links to this post. Running, Oxfam Fundraising. Sunday, 16 January 2011. I have had a crazy week! Although I started back at Oxfam on the 6th Jan it was Mo...
