http://notesfromtheofficersclub.blogspot.com/2014/01/book-6-in-shadow-of-banyan.html
Notes from the Officer's Club. Books Army. Life. Tuesday, January 07, 2014. Book 6: In the Shadow of the Banyan. In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. I've been looking forward to reading this novel for a while, even if other books kept getting in the way. I would like to visit Cambodia one day, mostly to visit Angkor Wat, and a friend of mine lives there. As a result I was very interested to read about this darker period of Cambodian history which I had only a vague inkling of. Monthly Keyword R...

If they decide to cut all ties, could they just be forgotten? They just married off a twelve year old, she now has her own kids, and her husband is really good at sleeping? Seriously, he spends the majority of the novel asleep even though he started out as a likable enough character before becoming completely useless. Malin's Blog of Books.

Enough to want to read more by Conroy but also wasnt in a hurry to follow up on that since parts of it did seem so, well, crazy. South of Broad. 160; Every thing is over the top. At one point, 18 year old Leo refers to Neil as son. Seriously? 160; You are the same age. Who talks like that? Overall, the novel ...

Do you recognize this woman? Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

I have opinions, dammit. Friday, June 6, 2014. CBR6 #13: Haunted House by John Kilborn. A quarter Cannonball done. halfway to my low-bar goal for the year! I didn't realize that this was a sequel to several other books by Jack Kilborn until after I was well into it, but that didn't keep me from enjoying the story (it just made me want to go find those books now, too! I'd recommend this one to people who like well-written horror, and plan to find the books that come before (and after) this one soon!

Thursday, February 26, 2015. CBR7 #2: A Lover's Discourse by Roland Barthes. Came recommended by a very good friend with very good literary taste, so I did not question a thing about the book when I picked it up. I went into it blind. Finding out that it was actually a philosophical treatise on the language we use as lovers was the least jarring of discoveries. Depending on what type of person you are, and what type of relationships you've been in, A Lover's Discourse. Or more to the point,. I who love a...

Quick One: November 2014
http://denestake.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 10, 2014. Diary of an Insomniac. Last night, I slept at 11:30 pm. This is unusual for a night owl like me. My typical bedtime is 2 am, at the earliest. But I was tired from not sleeping the night before. And from a weekend of drinking. And from my general terrible sleep schedule last week. So yea, I went to sleep at 11:30 pm. And you know what? This usually does not work. Sometimes it does, but most of the time, no. You know what the best case scenario is? Labels: blogging for the hell o...
