Spontaneity wins again – Notes from the Scenic Route
https://notesfromthescenicroute.wordpress.com/2013/08/27/spontaneity-wins-again
Notes from the Scenic Route. August 27, 2013. August 27, 2013. I hung up the phone last Wednesday, breathed deeply and wondered if I had just done something I’d regret. I’d been in Oregon three days — spending my nights on a yoga mat on my cousin’s floor and spending my days apartment-hunting and navigating the first week of my master’s law school program — and now I had just agreed to join a dozen strangers for a 198-mile relay run two days later. Tagged Hood to Coast. By Notes from the Scenic Route.
An Ancient World: Chaco Canyon, N.M. – Notes from the Scenic Route

Notes from the Scenic Route. July 14, 2015. July 26, 2016. An Ancient World: Chaco Canyon, N.M. Two weeks ago, I embarked on one of my favorite work trips to date: four days in a remote New Mexico canyon filled with tribal ruins, reporting on oil and gas development nearby. For two nights is just feet from tribal cliff dwellings and petroglyphs describing a pre-Columbian world, which no longer seems so distant here, with the nearest (tiny) modern town more than an hour away. American Odyssey Relay – Notes from the Scenic Route
https://notesfromthescenicroute.wordpress.com/2015/05/15/test
Notes from the Scenic Route. May 15, 2015. July 26, 2016. Remember two years ago when I spontaneously joined a Hood to Coast relay team just days after I moved to Oregon for grad school and days before the race? Yeah, it was awesome. So awesome that I thought I’d try it again this year. The race: American Odyssey Relay. The distance: 200 miles from Gettysburg, Pa., to Washington, D.C. split among 12 runners. My three legs were about 5.5 miles, 4 miles and 5 miles, respectively. My second leg was around m...

You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever. From the Couch to a Marathon. West and Wewaxation at Wast…? So I started this blog, feeling pretty proud of myself for sticking with this running thing, and then I. Took some rest days. As much joy as running brings me, and as antsy as I feel without it, I came up with a bunch of excuses as to why I didn’t need to make time for my run. Besides, my shins were bothering me and it wouldn’t hurt to go into Sunday’s 5k on fresh legs, right? And concentrated on using...

But I have felt like my overall health has improved greatly, and so has my confidence! 8221; I just can’t explain the feeling I get from getting through those training runs, so powerful! There’s something pretty awesome about being able to shut up that voice in your head that says “NO” and “I CAN’T”. Because you know what? You just freaking DID. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Living ...

You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever. From the Couch to a Marathon. Archive April, 2014. Perfectionism is the Enemy. Has it been a long time since I have updated this blog! You can’t possibly include them all! To miss a long run. Switch it out with a short run day if you must, or break it down into two shorter sessions in the same day if you ABSOLUTELY MUST, but for the love of Kathrine Switzer, DO NOT SKIP IT! 8221; So I still agonized and felt lazy and wondered if I made the right decision as per...

You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever. From the Couch to a Marathon. Archive October, 2013. Another one bites the dust! It’s been hard for me to keep up with the blog lately, homework has been picking up and lots has been going on around the old homestead. But I am happy to report (even if a bit late) that I have finished my first 10k! I was hoping to turn other runners to stone with my fearsome looks, but no luck! Four big things I learned from that race were:. Go to bed early the night before....

Escaping the City One Trail at a Time. Lessons from the Trail. Tales from the City. Mountains in My Dreams. June 30, 2016. June 30, 2016. Mt Everest. Courtesy of Wikipedia user Rdevany. I have recurring nightmares about Mount Everest. This is the ugly truth: I’m terrified of Everest. Given the logistics, there’s no way that I’m in any imminent danger from Mount Everest. But my fear persists. Looking back, I think it’s my brother’s fault. Like a lot of little siblings, when I wasn’t being annoying, ...

Notes from the Rotation
Notes from the Rotation. Where are you on the Wheel? Tuesday, June 2, 2015. NOLA Locavore Challenge, Take 2. I chose to do the "Lenient" challenge, which means I can pick six foods and six meals that don't count. Pretty sure I'll be over the limit every week, but here's how I am starting out. The one next to it was from LA, so I bought that one. Today, after a breakfast of French Press iced coffee and a GF bagel I still had in the fridge, I hit the farmer's markets hard. CCFM had peaches! Lunch with my m...
Notes From Desolation Row
Notes From Desolation Row. Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Notes on History Repeating Itself.Again. Did not win the U.S. Open. This past weekend. I’m sure you knew that already, but just in case. He held a lead on the back nine on Sunday of our national championship and found a way to need a miraculous chip-in on 18 to force a playoff. His record of second place finishes at the Open now stands at six. At the beginning of the week, many thought Merion. It is not, however, a style that Mickelson is capable of.

notes from the ruff house
Notes from the ruff house. Ramblings (occasionally censored) about life as a mom, daughter, coworker, friend and an iced tea addict. Consider yourself warned. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. One of these things is not like the other. Scantily clad skinny women lapping up the summer sun and waves are now dumpster diving in my driveway. And tonight we're having dessert. Posted by the ruffhouse. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Where do I begin? It's been SIXTEEN months since my last ...

Notes from the Sahel. An account of my life as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso. So This Is Goodbye. Posted by Jason Tsichlis. August 9, 2013. I’m confused, though. This. Is my home a. For two years. The finality of such a goodbye belied the fact that there is no word in the English language to accurately describe what their unswerving hospitality, generosity, and trust meant to me. And there is no word to describe what these people will continue to mean to me for the rest of my life. Enter your e...
Notes from the Sally a scouting site
Notes From The Sally. I have a passion for scouting and between Asheville, Greenville and Hickory I get to a lot of Sally games. All of the scouting reports on this site are my in person scouting reports. If you have questions/comments/suggestions or if you want to see a particular player covered look for me on Twitter @AshevilleSoxFan thanks. Previously I covered the Sally for minor league ball and wrote about prospects at legends on deck. Also a big music, tech and coffee geek. Columbia Fire Flies (21).

Notes from the Scenic Route
Notes from the Scenic Route. August 10, 2015. Badlands and Bison: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, N.D. From New Mexico’s high desert to North Dakota’s western badlands and then Alaska’s picture-perfect mountains, it’s been an exhausting and beautiful summer of work-related travel. I wrote about New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon here. And promise to write about Alaska soon, but for now I want to focus on the hidden gem: Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. A billion times yes! So many pretty things.

Notes from the Sea – Just Keep Swimming
Notes from the Sea. Myth-Busting, Girl Edition: Pillow Fights. I haven’t been in a pillow fight in at least … a few years, let’s say since college, but I’m sure the elements are pretty much the same. They’re probably not the elements YOU are thinking of if you’re a “red-blooded male”, but that’s what I’m here for. To shatter illusions and make fantasies less fun. Yay women. Girls don’t pillow fight in their underwear. Feathers don’t fly in a pillow fight. Your knuckles wrapped tightly around the edge of ...
Notes From the Second Half
Random Thoughts will be posted at the Whim of the Author. Notes From The Second Half. When I was growing up my Mom loved to rearrange the furniture. But then, I started school. Mom would get everything changed around before we came home. Lost track of how many times I came home from school and walked into, or tripped over, something that wasn't there when I left that morning. Sometimes, if it was one of Mom's major over hauls. My brother and I would sort of feel like we had come home to the wrong house.
