Culture Festival | Jill in Japan
https://acrossthepacific.net/2014/07/03/culture-festival
Another year, another Culture Festival. Each homeroom class or club plans an event or activity. Some classes perform skits, some make and display a large project, and others have interactive activities and games set up. This was Sarah’s first Culture Festival. Haha, my students think the Statue of Liberty is near Canada. The last game was shooting targets with a rubber band gun. I tied for 3rd place. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Snowboarding in Hakuba, Nagano. TLDR: I suck at snowboarding. But all in all, I was happy to visit a new prefecture, see snow, and meet lots of people. Me and Sarah, on the lift. Christmas lights outside the restaurant on my birthday. And in Osaka Station. Ginko leaves in a cemetery in Kakogawa. Here are some pictures I took in Kyoto at and around Kiyomizu Temple. Max Visits!!! | Jill in Japan
https://acrossthepacific.net/2014/10/27/max-visits
The first thing you have to do when visiting Japan is change into the proper attire. Just kidding. For a little over $100 each we walked around Kyoto Movie Park like this for a couple of hours. Many people wanted to take pictures. We were like celebrities! Dusk at Kiyomizu Temple. Max taking a bite out of the Golden Pavilion. Himeji Castle looking good with a fresh coat of paint. Derp-face in Himeji Castle. I’m a beautiful lady. We went to Ishigaki Island! First stop: Banna Park. Max is jumping for joy!

Osaka Castle Sakura | Jill in Japan

Right before heading off to Korea, I met my friend Maiko at Osaka Castle. Several other people came too, and we walked around for a few hours before they settled on a location for the picnic. Hanami (花見) is the Japanese word for cherry blossom viewing. The blossoms only last a couple of weeks. Marika, Jiao, Maiko, Arisa, me. L to R: Arisa, me, Maiko. These are some particularly colorful blossoms. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Seoul | Jill in Japan
https://acrossthepacific.net/2014/04/28/seoul
April 5th- 8th, Haruka and I went to Seoul. I mainly wanted to buy Korean makeup (don’t judge me), and Haruka wanted to go to the casino (hmm, don’t judge him either, haha). I went shopping, and he lost $400 on the first day and never returned to the casino. Something about how he had 19, the dealer had 14, and the dealer drew a 7. I bought all this, and more. But, everything on the left is free samples! No, we didn’t eat them. Part of a mural depicting a parade of the royal family (if I recall correctly).

Springtime Charm | Jill in Japan

This is a pretty nice beach considering most of the shoreline in this area is lined with concrete tetrapods. This park area is behind a temple called Kannon-ji. During my morning run it was deserted, but when I returned around noon there were some other people enjoying the cherry blossoms. One old man even cracked open a beer for solo hanami (cherry blossom viewing). Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.
