Barry Bishop: A quick trip to Spurn.

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-quick-trip-to-spurn.html

Tuesday, 4 August 2015. A quick trip to Spurn. Chris and I were both free this afternoon so we decided to try for a tick for both of us, and head for Spurn. Chris parked his car in the Crown and Anchor car park and we walked along the bank to join four other birders, who were hoping to see the black stork. Its in there somewhere. There were some sedges in a dip in the field and it was last seen in that area, and after a few minutes it appeared. Time to head for home with 35 birds on our list. Zenfolio Ch...

Barry Bishop: April 2015

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, 26 April 2015. Sunday afternoon at Blacktoft Sands. I met Chris at Blacktoft Sands at 2pm. He had been to Ousefleet hide in the hope of seeing a curlew sandpiper and a red necked phalarope, neither of which could be seen. We then visited the rest of the hides, and saw marsh harriers from each one. And it appeared to us that the harriers were always giving a better display in front of the next hide! However we were wrong! A walk around St.Aidans. Reed buntings were busy flying about in the reeds.

Barry Bishop: June 2015

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Monday, 22 June 2015. Fathers Day at Blacktoft Sands. Domestic duties took up the morning, so it was 13:30 when I arrived at the reserve. The car park was full, which was not a surprise. After visiting reception, I went to Xerox hide, to look for the ring-necked duck, and again no surprise to find that the hide was full. I could see the duck as it sat on a piece of mud sleeping. It moved once or twice, allowing us a brief view of its head and bill. We watched the bird fly around and it appeared to land i...

Barry Bishop: August 2015

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 31 August 2015. Duart Castle, Tobermory and a white tailed sea eagle. The weather was not brilliant this morning and so we did not leave for Duart Castle until mid morning. A few more vehicles on the road today, but it is fairly quiet, as is the bird life. Only saw one buzzard on the whole journey, but greylag geese seem to be everywhere. It was low tide when we got to the castle, so unable to see any birds on the mud. However the sun started to shine and I took some photos of the scenery. Our se...

Barry Bishop: May 2015

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 May 2015. Another day of showers and sunshine. So I did a bit of shopping this morning. This afternoon after the hail showers had finished I set off to drive down to Garmony, on the shore of the Sound of Mull. My first stop was just before Salen. Here I saw a common sandpiper having a preen after its recent soaking. On the rocks in the bay some common seals were relaxing, whilst one of them did a few jumps. Oh deer it's raining! Tuesday, 26 May 2015. I then came across this bird in a garden.

Barry Bishop: Gannets in the mist

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015/08/gannets-in-mist.html

Friday, 14 August 2015. Gannets in the mist. Each year we rent a beach chalet at Bridlington and each day we travel from York with the grandchildren. Wednesday was brilliant weather,. But Thursday was a bit cooler. We arrived fairly early on Thursday morning and a small group of terns were on the beach so I pooped down to have a look. One or two other people were walking on the beach, so the birds kept getting disturbed, I managed some photos, but the light conditions were not good. The Kites of Nunburnh...

Barry Bishop: 10 different waders at Blacktoft

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015/08/10-different-waders-at-blacktoft.html

Tuesday, 4 August 2015. 10 different waders at Blacktoft. I arrived at Blacktoft Sands just after 6pm, the sun was shining and it was pleasant to be outside. I decided to walk to Ousefleet to see if I could find any yellow wagtails or curlews. I saw 4 curlews, but no yellow wagtails. The ponies were there. 4 hares were also in front of the hide and one came closer. A perfect end to a summers day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Duffbirder meets South Holderness! Barry Bishop: Plenty of bills at Blacktoft

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015/08/plenty-of-bills-at-blacktoft.html

Monday, 10 August 2015. Plenty of bills at Blacktoft. After doing lots of jobs today I went to Blacktoft Sands arriving at 5pm. I had driven through some heavy rain showers, but the sun was still shining at the reserve. Marshland hide was my first stop. Townend hide was where I spent another hour watching the different waders and at least 10 little egrets. A pair of yellow wagtails joined the waders, but were a bit too far away to get a decent shot. 32 different birds and some cracking views of waders.

Barry Bishop: March 2015

http://barryjohnbishop.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 March 2015. Sunday afternoon at Blacktoft Sands. The RSPB Members weekend was over , how quickly the weekend goes! Time for some birding so I decided to go to Blacktoft to see the avocets. In the car park a robin and chaffinch were waiting to greet me! My first stop was at Ousefleet hide from where I could see, shelduck, teal, gadwall and greylag geese. From Xerox hide I added shoveler and wigeon to my list. A pheasant came strutting by. One marsh harrier flew very high and the sun caught the ...

Fiona Whitten - Independent Stampin' Up! JOIN in the Fun. WEEKLY DEALS and Other News/Offers. Sunday, 16 August 2015. A few of you know that I have to travel quite a bit if I want to see my immediate family (kids and husband). George's job means that he travels quite a bit and he has been known to be away for months at a time. Most of his travels take him to San Diego, not a bad place to go if I say so myself, and I tend to catch up with him there. Ink pads, paper, punches and some. Stamp sets of course.
