Observations from the Average

Observations from the Average. Thursday, December 18, 2008. Bashing vs. humor. George W. Bush has the distinction of being the most hated political figure in the world right now. No person has taken more criticism for his decisions, more second-guessing, and more flat-out resentment than he. Type in 'bush' on the Facebook Flair application page and see what you find. My question: Is there a point in which we become too critical of a president? Is there a point where 'political humor' becomes unreasonable?

Observations from the Average: A bias vs. a prejudice

http://www.observationsfromtheaverage.blogspot.com/2008/10/bias-vs-prejudice.html

Observations from the Average. Tuesday, October 21, 2008. A bias vs. a prejudice. THERE IS ALWAYS A BIAS. Even when you are trying to unbiased, unless you have absolutely zero knowledge on the subject (and that means absolute zero) there is no way that you can be completely unbiased on a subject. Furthermore, I have no problem with biases! I have no problem with people having UNIQUE perspectives! That's what makes us different from each other. My childhood has taught me to enjoy fishing and the outdoors.

Observations from the Average: The problem for John McCain

http://www.observationsfromtheaverage.blogspot.com/2008/10/problem-for-john-mccain.html

Observations from the Average. Monday, October 20, 2008. The problem for John McCain. With the election drawing ever nearer, John McCain's campaign staff must be frustrated by their seeming inability to make any sort of a splash on the front page. Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama carried that sort of coverage through the entire weekend as he made his choice clear on NBC's meet the press. On the other hand, John McCain remains the same old, same old. He is repeating the same old points.

http://www.observationsfromtheaverage.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Observations from the Average. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. The usual "Get out and vote" spiel. The election is coming! The election is coming! The media and the political people on either side proclaim the dire consequences if their opponent wins. Exit polls begin to come out in rapidly increasing numbers. Victories are guaranteed. Assasination plots come to light. The list goes on. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Plan for Change- part 1. I do not tend to read much on the candidate's websites.but a frien...

Observations from the Average. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Plan for Change- part 1. I do not tend to read much on the candidate's websites.but a friend has been pressuring me to do so for quite a while and so I hopped on Barack Obama's website. I clicked on the 'issues' tab and picked up the very first issue listed- civil rights. 2Hate Crimes on the Rise. According to the official FBI website, the FBI "does not recommend comparing hate crime statistics from year to year". We could argue that McCain's at...

Thursday, February 11, 2010. CLASSIC FILM REVIEW: Abbott and Costello's "Meet The Killer: Boris Karloff (1949)". Abbott and Costello have always been a great source of entertainment and joy for me for years, and this blog only proves it, the way I keep on reviewing their films! The suspects in the murder case are many, and all have perfect motives (and alibis, too! There's Lenore Aubert, the husband-poisoner who tries to help Costello to "one of her special cocktails"! There's also Boris Karloff, who, de...

Friday, November 20, 2009. RADIO REVIEW: Lights Out, "The Dark". Lights Out. The first and last name in horror in its time. Today, the first and last word. in campy horror. Many of its episodes badly outdated and overtly "moralized", Lights Out is definitely not the horror show it once was. What, then, keeps us coming back for more of this blood-and-guts o'rama? Well, maybe you should listen to it:. Http:/ www.archive.org/download/lightsouteverybody/Lights Out-1937-12-29 The Dark.mp3. However, that being...

Thursday, July 30, 2015. Well, I've Got My Health. In high school, I had my share of drinking parties and foolish pranks and stunts. In my twenties, I took up smoking along with turning drinking into an art form. I experimented with whatever drug was handy at the time, I drove recklessly and I took stupid risks. Through all of this I stayed pretty healthy. These things make me appreciate the health I have. I try to take better care of myself these days. I've learned to be thankful for my good luc...July ...
