Observed Art: September 2013
https://observedart.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Where art goes to be Observed. Tuesday, September 10, 2013. The Art Walk is coming soon to downtown Concord- January 31st. Here are the likely candidate art selections I will be displaying. Obviously a winter theme has been struck here, but also a few signs of an upcoming Spring, plus a little just fooling around abstracts. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). SENATE INQUIRY - WHISTLEBLOWING. Observed Art: February 2014
https://observedart.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Where art goes to be Observed. Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Ok, so maybe old man winter has given up and Spring is actually coming. Now, every time I say that, the old fart comes roaring back dropping his little white stuff all over the landscape. Still, he has to go away at some point. So, now we can start thinking of Springy things, and what could be more Springy than an Art Walk? Monday, February 3, 2014. Labels: Spring is Coming. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Observed Art: Urban Dreaming
https://observedart.blogspot.com/2015/02/urban-dreaming.html
Where art goes to be Observed. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Or maybe, instead of, or in addition to, Studies in Red, I include Urban Dreaming in the next Art Walk? The City . . . A Fanciful view of the Kennedy Center. A vision of that venerable old institution in LondonTowne. A golden vision of The Gate. And on a final note, I am adding a view of another city . . . a tiny city by comparison, but behold Concord by night . . . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). SENATE INQUIRY - WHISTLEBLOWING.

artfulnotes: Growing Up Poor
http://artfulnotes.blogspot.com/2015/04/growing-up-poor.html
Portrait of a Cranky Old Man. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. I grew up somewhere between poor and lower middle class. Raised in a largely single parent household, by a working mom who had a high school education (maybe). Pops was there occasionally, mainly when he had finished his drinking spree and wanted the comfort of a home and good woman. Sometimes, my mom would let him in, sometimes not. Mainly, though, he was missing in action. But throughout this period, when we were forming our personalities, no one...

Portrait of a Cranky Old Man. Friday, September 26, 2014. Global Messes and Our Inattention. For example, on our southern border, we have flocks of folks, including a bunch of little kids, hurrying across the border, seeking safe haven. That makes us grumpy. How can we drink our beer and watch the NFL with all these little kids scurrying across and around our fences? So do we do anything about the root causes? No What could we do? But what can we do now? Maybe . . . only maybe. Poor folks can't buy bread?

Portrait of a Cranky Old Man. Thursday, July 24, 2014. Or, perhaps when they convince some young thing to don a dynamite vest, walk into a crowded marketplace and detonate the vest. Makes me wonder what the relative death toll is—Israelis killing Muslims, or Muslims killing Muslims? I wonder, how many people have to die before we conclude that too many people have died? Observed Art
Where art goes to be Observed. Wednesday, January 10, 2018. For the CBC April art show, I plan to return to my favorite abstract creatures. I like them, even if no one else does. So, who knows, it all depends on mood and what the magic wand feels like creating. It is looking like these guys are the winners. I have just decided to add a few more pictures for the CBC Arts Festival in April, and they are displayed below. They are still vaguely abstract. Saturday, September 30, 2017. Observed!
Jan 1, 2009. A Canid Droped into my Valley. A Dream: the slab. Just a vivid dream I had. Nothing of Substance in this post. A gray slab of rock of continental scale warms in the afternoon sun of my minds eye. 'What makes this kind of country' asks my fathers voice. 'plates come together and they crunch up or one is pushed under the other' I say. Off my left flank are open spaces and somewhere the channel is to powerful to ford, and the waterfalls sound greater than man or mountain. I'll tell you what....

Where sports, writing and an observer meet. Monday, September 24, 2012. A question for golf fans. Watching the last round of the Tour Championship this morning. Let's imagine, for a second, that Rory McIlroy continues on the career trajectory that he seems to be laying out for himself. In other words, let's predict that Rory will be the Tiger of the current generation of young golfers. Given how well Rory has played lately, it's not much of a stretch. So, if Rory is the Tiger, who's the Phil? Whenever we...
