I'll remember it forever, the moment I signed up for my first Ironman. It was noon on Sept. 4, 2013, and as soon as I clicked the "Submit Payment" button, I was overcome with a wave of both glee and anxiety. Seven thousand and some odd miles away, my friend Doug was completing the same process during a business trip in Dubai, where it was 8 pm.
