Wolstenholme Coot For Sale. Iain Oughtred Whilly Tern. Billy Neil's Super Store. Friday, 20 December 2013. The Famous Five ventured out into the New Forest again the other day. It will come as no surprise to some, especially those who know us, that out of four cars, containing five cartographers, two cars managed to turn up at the wrong car park. Of course we'd probably all used G* gle Maps to find our way. Soon rectified by a couple of mobile phone calls we were re-united and raring to go. We'd seen sig...

Port-na-Storm: February 2015
http://port-na-storm.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wolstenholme Coot For Sale. Iain Oughtred Whilly Tern. Billy Neil's Super Store. Wednesday, 25 February 2015. Mine was never like this. We were out on the bikes today and came across this lovely little Ford Anglia 105E at the Fighting Cocks at Godshill. Now the colour scheme is the same as the Lotus Cortina of the same era and she has Lotus badges on her rear quarters but as far as I can remember Lotus never built an Anglia. Maybe they hint at a Lotus twin cam under the bonnet. Very understated, very nice.

Wolstenholme Coot For Sale. Iain Oughtred Whilly Tern. Billy Neil's Super Store. Saturday, 21 March 2015. Who Says Men Can't Multi Task? There I was settling down for a good snooze after my Christmas Lunch and suddenly its the middle of March! A quick rifle round the rafters in the garage unearthed a sail I'd forgotten I'd made, quel surprize! And confirmed that I must've given the mast away with Polythene Pam. I can report that at least four old windsurfer masts have been tracked down all be it at quite...

Port-na-Storm: Bufflehead @ Beale
http://port-na-storm.blogspot.com/2015/06/bufflehead-beale.html
Wolstenholme Coot For Sale. Iain Oughtred Whilly Tern. Billy Neil's Super Store. Friday, 12 June 2015. And about time too you might say, I've been so busy multi tasking I haven't had time to post. There's been a trip to the Norfolk Broads with Katie, a trip to Scotland to see family, then a re run of our Lechlade to Beale Park Raid. Amongst the many interesting things at Beale this year was this Bufflehead Sailing Canoe built by Jamie Clay. What is the transparent tube under the side deck; buoyancy?

"SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe: Outrigger floats refurbished.

SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Thursday, 12 June 2014. There were 3 areas of damage like the one in the picture above. The outriggers had been damaged and gelcoat had been slapped on but not sanded back, tut, tut! After rubbing back, applying some fresh white gelcoat filler and sanding, polishing and T-cutting the floats are as good as new! I've also now fitted my Garmin Forerunner GPS to the mainsheet thwart.

"SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe: Mainsheet thwart.
http://canoesirius.blogspot.com/2014/05/mainsheet-thwart.html
SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Saturday, 24 May 2014. I decided to sort out the sheeting arrangement today. After spending all of yesterday sailing a Broads half-decker on Hickling Broad I'm certain that I don't like to pull the mainsheet directly from the boom. I'd already ordered the ash canoe thwart that can be seen in the picture above. This just needed to be cut to size and bolted to the seat runners. Posted by Chris Abela.

You know how when you buy a particular marque or model of car you start to see them everywhere? A few years ago, wandering through ebay while avoiding a more important task, I came across some images of canoeing on romantic themes. I can’t recall now which one I saw first, but here’s a representative example. The collecting of the images and souvenirs was...

"SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe: Boom!
http://canoesirius.blogspot.com/2014/06/boom.html
SIRIUS" restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Restoring and sailing a Solway Dory sailing canoe. Tuesday, 3 June 2014. The boom was cut to length then the fittings where attached. As always when drilling stainless screws into alloy, I used some yellow "Duralac" to prevent corrosion between the dissimilar metals. Inboard end complete and fitted in the same way as on the original boom. The boom rather than from. The boom making the whole arrangement much stronger. Posted by Chris Abela.
