Strawberry Pound Cake with Basil Whipped Cream. March 28, 2011. Hold on to your hats. This it ain’t your grandma’s strawberry shortcake. 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour. 1/3 cup strawberry puree (measure out 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen berries and then blend). 1/4 cup sour cream. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional). 1/4 cup chopped basil. 1 cup whipping cream. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a loaf pan. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Now, it’s time to make the whipped cream.
