Safaris and families mix well! This is constant interest, space, excitement, different cultures, dramatic animals, adventure, learning, and exploring. What a heady mix for youngsters and adults for that matter. Yes, children of all ages, from 6 year olds to teenagers, take wonderfully to safari life. Many take to it better than the adults! Long game drives are best avoided or broken with tea breaks and short walks, and getting back to camp early enough to unwind. Image X of Y.

Is a word that has been devalued by overuse, and nowhere more so than of safari camps. So we use it rarely. However, if you prefer canvas to nylon and leather to plastic, then you will warm to our camps. If you value privacy on occasions, space and proportion, courteous manners and unhurried schedules, camp fires and starry nights, then our style will fit you well. Our camps are tented, traditional and comfortable. We value simplicity but have an eye for every amenity. At least one camp staff per guest.

Are different from our Main Camps, and should not be confused with them. Each Main Camp has a lighter weight Adventure Camp unit, enabling us to send out extension adventures to neighbouring areas with minimal fuss. Very often we use donkeys with Maasai handlers to really get off the beaten track for example up into the Ngorongoro Highlands, or into the harsh but beautiful terrain around Lake Natron. In fact basic comforts are considerable! These are camps you could comfortably spend weeks in!

Tim's father, Frank Corfield, had a lifetime career in the Sudan Political Service, ending as Governor of Khartoum Province. He married a British woman, Tim's mother, whose grandparents trekked overland from southern Africa to Kenya in the late 1900's as settler farmers. Wednesday, August 01, 2012. As you approach the Mt Shasta area, the majestic Mt Shasta Mountain looms high in the sky. It is the second highest volcano in the United States rising to 14, 179 feet. Complimenting the mountain range are healthy stands of sugar pine, incense-cedar, white fir, Douglas-fir, ponderosa pine, and canyon live oak. It is a sight that is not soon forgotten. Our destination in the Mt Shasta area was Klamath Ranch Resort. We have stayed here before and looked forward to our return.

Journey to the Center
Journey to the Center. Learning things the hard way. Edmonds January – dive 60! Went diving in the cold at Edmonds. Much better visibility in the winter than the summer time, at least 30 feet. Losing the algae blooms of a warm summer really does make that much of a difference. Lots of other divers out as well, partially due to the sun and partially due to the current chasing us away from other sites. On our way back in from checking out the wrecks we were visited by two seals who wanted to check us.
