Art. Eat. Tie Dye. Repeat.: Things that Fly
http://aschukei.blogspot.com/2015/06/things-that-fly.html
Monday, June 8, 2015. 1st graders last projects of the school year were all about balance and symmetry. We started off by talking about the asymmetry of kites when it comes to the patterns and designs. The borders around our kites were just a combination of leftover scraps from the year- never let anything go to waste! You can tell the students who just threw on random colors and those that took the time to sort through all the colors to create a pattern. Share this post on: Facebook. Just Love your blog!

Snippety Gibbet: Spooning
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/04/spooning.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2015. This past week I finished Spoonula 3 and carved another spoon for a friend. There have been no big wood mishaps in the last week. The only problem is that I can't stop thinking about wanting to carve. I wake up at night thinking about it. Spoonulas 2 and 3 were carved out of a board of Ambrosia Maple. I love the color of this after I oiled it. Gorgeous! Carving dried boards is like carving brick though. Wow, that was tough on my hands. You are a speed learner Jan! Subscribe to: ...

Art. Paper. Scissors. Glue!: Sunflowers and Sculptures
http://art-paper-scissors.blogspot.com/2011/04/sunflowers-and-sculptures.html
Art Paper. Scissors. Glue! K-12 Art Projects and Other Things Related. Monday, April 25, 2011. Paper Plates (one for each child). Students paint the center of a paper plate with black paint. We put them aside to dry and started tracing their hands. At this point in the year, they have a lot. Because students work at all different paces, the children who finished early worked on Gum Drop Sculptures. This one was a little smarty, turning his lid over and poking the toothpicks inside so that they were stable.

Art. Eat. Tie Dye. Repeat.: Art in Motion: Digital Flipbooks
http://aschukei.blogspot.com/2015/07/art-in-motion-digital-flipbooks.html
Thursday, July 9, 2015. Art in Motion: Digital Flipbooks. This year my summer school class (comprised of 5th and 6th graders) tackled the theme of Art in Motion. Who better to learn about this concept other than Eadward Muybridge? Now, I will admit I did have dreams of galloping horses and walking ostriches, but that's besides the point. This video. WARNING: DON'T LOOK AT THESE ALL AT ONCE YOU MIGHT GET MOTION SICKNESS. I will be presenting at the AOE Online Summer Conference. If you haven't signed u...

Paintbrush Rocket: July 2012
http://paintbrushrocket.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Kindergarten - Winter Landscapes. It was an exciting moment! We painted a ring around our sun with the new color. We repeated the magenta two more times, deepening to orange and then to red-orange. I collected the brushes and paint and passed out new. A new plate with turquoise and white. The students added a blue ring to their sun, (to keep the nice shape they created). Then, they filled in the rest of the paper with the turquoise/white mixture. 1st Grade - Monster Box Sculptures.
