Once upon an Art Room: Clay and Glass Jewellery

http://www.onceuponanartroom.com/2014/06/clay-and-glass-jewellery.html

Once upon an Art Room. Sunday, 15 June 2014. Clay and Glass Jewellery. I gave my Year 6 and 7's a fairly open ended clay project to create a piece of jewellery or an ornament. They also had the option of adding a glass element to their piece (we do this by adding a glass marble during the glaze firing). I am so impressed by their originality and creativity. These are just some of the results so far. More photos coming soon! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Chinese New Year Art.

Once upon an Art Room: Sidney Nolan Inspired Ned Kelly projects

http://www.onceuponanartroom.com/2014/05/sidney-nolan-inspired-ned-kelly-projects.html

Once upon an Art Room. Thursday, 29 May 2014. Sidney Nolan Inspired Ned Kelly projects. I have done a Sidney Nolan inspired oil pastel project before. This time, we took it a step further and after finishing our oil pastel artworks, we also created some Nolan inspired Ned Kelly's out of clay. I love the results and how different they all look! This was a Year 5 class and my artists are: Shreya, Timnit, Noah, Maggie, Lyla, Lucy and Jasmine. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Once upon an Art Room: August 2013

http://www.onceuponanartroom.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Once upon an Art Room. Wednesday, 14 August 2013. I bought the book, 'Giraffes Can't Dance'. By Giles Andreae, many years ago for my son and always loved the illustrations. This week I used it as inspiration for a project with my Year 3's. It is a great way to introduce how to create tonal gradients when painting with ink and their dancing giraffes were just gorgeous! The following photos show the step by step process of how we created our artworks. Student sample will be posted soon. Chinese New Year Art.

Once upon an Art Room: March 2013

http://www.onceuponanartroom.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Once upon an Art Room. Tuesday, 26 March 2013. Bird in a Birdcage. I have had a bit of a bird obsession over the last year or so, and this is the latest in a series of bird inspired projects! 1 We used some pictures of different birds to help us do a pencil drawing. 2 We then outlined and shaded our bird using a black wax crayon. 3 We used an overhead projector to trace our birdcage over our bird. Sunday, 24 March 2013. Seasonal Trees with Marbled Leaves. Saturday, 2 March 2013. I have wanted to do this ...

Art. Eat. Tie Dye. Repeat.: Things that Fly

http://aschukei.blogspot.com/2015/06/things-that-fly.html

Monday, June 8, 2015. 1st graders last projects of the school year were all about balance and symmetry. We started off by talking about the asymmetry of kites when it comes to the patterns and designs. The borders around our kites were just a combination of leftover scraps from the year- never let anything go to waste! You can tell the students who just threw on random colors and those that took the time to sort through all the colors to create a pattern. Share this post on: Facebook. Just Love your blog!

Snippety Gibbet: Spooning

https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/04/spooning.html

Wednesday, April 8, 2015. This past week I finished Spoonula 3 and carved another spoon for a friend. There have been no big wood mishaps in the last week. The only problem is that I can't stop thinking about wanting to carve. I wake up at night thinking about it. Spoonulas 2 and 3 were carved out of a board of Ambrosia Maple. I love the color of this after I oiled it. Gorgeous! Carving dried boards is like carving brick though. Wow, that was tough on my hands. You are a speed learner Jan! Subscribe to: ...

http://art-paper-scissors.blogspot.com/2011/04/sunflowers-and-sculptures.html

Art Paper. Scissors. Glue! K-12 Art Projects and Other Things Related. Monday, April 25, 2011. Paper Plates (one for each child). Students paint the center of a paper plate with black paint. We put them aside to dry and started tracing their hands. At this point in the year, they have a lot. Because students work at all different paces, the children who finished early worked on Gum Drop Sculptures. This one was a little smarty, turning his lid over and poking the toothpicks inside so that they were stable.

http://aschukei.blogspot.com/2015/07/art-in-motion-digital-flipbooks.html

Thursday, July 9, 2015. Art in Motion: Digital Flipbooks. This year my summer school class (comprised of 5th and 6th graders) tackled the theme of Art in Motion. Who better to learn about this concept other than Eadward Muybridge? Now, I will admit I did have dreams of galloping horses and walking ostriches, but that's besides the point. This video. WARNING: DON'T LOOK AT THESE ALL AT ONCE YOU MIGHT GET MOTION SICKNESS. I will be presenting at the AOE Online Summer Conference. If you haven't signed u...

http://paintbrushrocket.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Kindergarten - Winter Landscapes. It was an exciting moment! We painted a ring around our sun with the new color. We repeated the magenta two more times, deepening to orange and then to red-orange. I collected the brushes and paint and passed out new. A new plate with turquoise and white. The students added a blue ring to their sun, (to keep the nice shape they created). Then, they filled in the rest of the paper with the turquoise/white mixture. 1st Grade - Monster Box Sculptures.

Once upon an Austria...

Once upon an Austria. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The easiest thing to remember in a foreign country is Carpe Diem. But it is also the quickest thing that you forget. The best thing to do is DO the thing you want as soon as you can - the next minute, hour, or day. Don't say 'next week' or 'next month'. Time doesn't exist like that. Sure, you might say: I'll do that the next time the sun's shining or the weather is nice. You know what? Did I mention that vegetarians can have a hard time of it over here? As you...
