once upon a photobooth

Once upon a photobooth. Sunday, January 13, 2013. Didn't Amount to a Hill of Beans. Anyway. Who knows what bearing the outfit had on things. I was hired to wait tables at what the owner of this yet to be opened coffee joint described as "cutting edge" and "like nothing Atlanta has ever seen." Now, this was not a person who had ever owned or run a cafe or restaurant before. This was an agonizingly rich person for whom this was their big, fun project. You know? Have you ever met one of those folks? Once in...

once upon a photobooth

http://onceuponaphotobooth.blogspot.com/2013/01/with-silver-buttons-buttons-buttons.html

Once upon a photobooth. Friday, January 11, 2013. With Silver Buttons, Buttons, Buttons. I can't recall the floor manager's name, but I do remember that his night job was teaching ballroom dance. In all my restaurant work, I have never worked with anyone who was absolutely, totally there because it was their passion or whatever, but this place had the lowest morale I've ever experienced. We were a pretty desperate bunch. I concentrated on looking blank, and then he said, Is that okay? The other good thin...

Once upon a photobooth. Friday, October 15, 2010. Time, time, time, see what's become of me. Middle of October already! It feels like I have to get a number of things accomplished in the next two-three weeks: Make the Mama Calendar! Get ready for the Bookfair! Choose a Halloween costume! Collaborate on a Voter Guide! And they all feel equally urgent. For your part, you could move things along by submitting something for the Mama Calendar. Now! The deadline is Monday. 2011 Call for Submissions! School is ...

Once upon a photobooth. Saturday, January 12, 2013. And hard, and weird, and a lot of other things, and now I was back at my parents' house for a few weeks (about six) with plans to move to Atlanta just after the first of the year. I wanted to work on the floor, and have cash in hand, but I was up for doing whatever. My first few nights there I worked "on the line" which meant putting the toppings on the pizzas before handing them over to the oven person. This was not bad! No cell phones going on! A funn...

Once upon a photobooth. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. The 10th Mama Calendar. That winter found me paralyzed by depression and just not able to face a project which had always been a source of joy and inspiration for me. What a bummer. And also - what joy that that is not the case anymore! That I took a needed hiatus and now continue on. Praise be. The 2012 Mama Calendars are here, y'all. Order yours today! Do it like so:. Rebel Kids Homeschool: The Tracy Aviary

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/05/tracy-aviary.html

Monday, May 21, 2012. We lucked out a month ago and got in on a terrific deal on Utah's Pass of All Passes. We get to go to water parks and lots of fun sporting and other events. The other plus for us, is that on Mondays, we get to go to the Tracy Aviary. As well. We've been several times now, and the kids really do love it. Today, we hit the aviary again. It wasn't terribly busy, and we got there in time to see the bird show before we had our picnic lunch. The eyelashes on the hornbills kill me. Subscri...

Rebel Kids Homeschool: August 2011

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 29, 2011. A Dinoriffic Day at the Zoo. This summer the Hogle Zoo here in Utah has hosted a collection of awesome robotic dinosaurs. Because my children are rather obsessed with dinosaurs, particularly the male child, we have gone several times. It is their last week, though, and Angus is mourning. So today, despite the warm weather, we hit the zoo for our last encounter with the incredibly realistic robot dinos. They have dinosaur-related teaching exhibits throughout the park, as well.

Rebel Kids Homeschool: November 2010

Monday, November 15, 2010. A Fall Day and Changes. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven;. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, a time to reap that which is. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a. Time to refrain from embracing;. This is ...

Rebel Kids Homeschool: March 2011

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 25, 2011. For the past month we've been hatching butterflies. We bought the Butterfly Habitat, and sent away for the caterpillars. They came as tiny little circles in a small container. They grew and grew and grew. And then eventually they climbed to the top of their container and became chrysalises. Four of our eggs survived to become caterpillars. We will keep them until it is warm enough to release them, and then we will let them go. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. We went to the Fire Station!

Rebel Kids Homeschool: December 2010

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 31, 2010. The Flat Lady Takes Flight. Yesterday the Flat Lady got shipped. Literally. She's currently winging her way to our friends Sabrina, Kia, Rasmus, and Ilmi in Finland. We can't wait to see what she gets to do there in the winter. I'm sure it will be awesome. Safe travels, Flat Lady! Wednesday, December 29, 2010. A Busy Past Month. Rebel Kids Homeschool: Of Plastics, Polymers, and Pinterest

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/02/of-plastics-polymers-and-pinterest.html

Monday, February 20, 2012. Of Plastics, Polymers, and Pinterest. If you homeschool, and have not found pinterest,. You need to - fast! For us it's a great place to find ideas for science experiments, craft projects, and so much more. Trust me. You will not regret it. So it was on that note that this morning we set out to make plastic, after having found a cool science experiment on pinterest over the weekend. We learned a little about plastics and polymers, and then we made bouncing balls. This.

Rebel Kids Homeschool: Shopping Bags to Shopping Bags

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2011/11/shopping-bags-to-shopping-bags.html

Sunday, November 27, 2011. Shopping Bags to Shopping Bags. We do a mostly homemade Christmas here. We're not big into consumerism, or shopping. We buy a few things, but we make infinitely more than we buy. Here is a tutorial :. The first thing you need to do is fuse the bags. We found this. I went ahead and did like 20 sheets of bags with all of our old bags, then took them to my sewing room when cooled, and used them like fabric to make multiple bags. I think this size would be great as a small produce ...

Rebel Kids Homeschool: Magnetism

http://rebelkidshomeschool.blogspot.com/2011/10/magnetism.html

Monday, October 10, 2011. First, we told each other what we already knew about magnets, and I wrote that down. Then I sent the kids on a scavenger hunt to find household items, and we tested them with our magnets, which taught us even more about magnetism and what magnets do and do not attract. We learned about polarity, and the north-south pull of magnets, and did an experiment by putting the horseshoe magnet on a stick and watching it "magically" rotate so that it was always pointing north/south.

Once Upon A Photograph

Wednesday, January 21, 2015. I love this family, and not entirely just because I'm biased since Brian's my cousin, but because they're a great family! I got to go down to one of my favorite places in the world to shoot them (Manti) and it was such a blast to be able to go down there, take photos and hang out with them. We also got some baptism photos done in the process. Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Brian and Lexi Wedding day. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Brian and Lexi Wedding day. Will and Lexi Reception.
