This is Life: God In Our Midst Part 3: Grief
http://webbersinafrica.blogspot.com/2014/10/god-in-our-midst-part-3-grief.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2014. God In Our Midst Part 3: Grief. I want to acknowledge that as many people are under the sun today, there are that many different ways to describe grief and loss, and in particular the loss of a child through miscarriage or other means. I do not assume to be able to relate to what others' grief feels like because it is impossible for me to know. I just know my own.and this is it. They say that in the initial stages of grief, you feel like one large bruise. It's like an amputation.

Sunday, January 25, 2015. Creating Space to Breathe. In coming back to the States, one of our main objectives was to create some space to breathe. Living in Bundibugyo can sometimes feel like living in a pressure cooker (I know, you've heard that before.). Which then makes coming back to the US feel like an explosive bottle of champagne at a New Years Eve party. We attempted {fairly well}. To protect family time and not overcommit ourselves with social engagements. And then we set aside time to get a...

ParadoxUganda: Ever since Cain
http://paradoxuganda.blogspot.com/2015/06/ever-since-cain.html
Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Friday, June 19, 2015. The rain mists down from glum skies today, with occasional outbursts of serious force. Scott is a thousand kilometers away. The first of three pre-packing projects I had expected to finish last night took me double the time so just finished. And in spite of my best intentions, I keep checking the news and reading with sorrow about the shootings in the AME church in South Carolina. What can overcome that fear? Only love. Which is n...

Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Friday, August 29, 2014. Today we watched Caleb march onto the parade field with 4000 other cadets, a precision spectacle of blue uniforms, white gloves, drums and flags. All the parents and spectators rose, instructed to put our right hand over our heart as the national anthem played. A cannon fired, bugles sounded, and a formidable number of healthy strong young men and women moved into position. Wednesday, August 27, 2014. This picture, from Mardi, makes...

Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Thursday, September 25, 2014. Thoughts on parenting, vaccines, sex, and the desert. In this context I read with my team yesterday the story of Hagar and Ishmael. Remember her weeping in the desert, thinking her son was going to die? Monday, September 15, 2014. Just talked to R this morning, and she mentioned that she has named her baby "HOPE". How perfect is that? Rom 5:3-5. Let this Hope not disappoint. Sunday, September 14, 2014. Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Saturday, February 28, 2015. 20 YEARS OF CALEB. So today we celebrate 20 years with this boy-turning-man. And we celebrate from something on the order of 10,000 miles and 10 time zones away, while he begins his powered flight course with a day of instruction. We're on the edge of our seat for the story the next 20 years will tell. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Prayer: Jesus, come again! Walter Wangerin, Reliving the Passion. Sunday, February 22, 2015. Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Last Call For . . . Me At Kijabe for a while, anyway. And it was a doozy. I had the sense it would be, that I would not slip quietly. At 8 am Saturday I walked into ICU to sort out three kids, all on ventilators and very sick:. ICU care, is, after all INTENSIVE. Meaning careful examination, review of labs, detailed notes, considered orders, pausing to draw blood or position tubes or consult surgeons. A lumbar puncture here, a consult ...

Support the Dr. Jonah Memorial Leadership Fund. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. And in a place like Kijabe, the sheer volume and complexity of the ways evil takes its toll on the weak keeps us in motion, from battle to battle. But two cases today stood out to me, in that crumbling-edge glimpse of sorrow and beauty. How did his parents let him get to this point? Where did the whole system break down, losing track of him for the last year and a half since his last visit to Kijabe? Is it too late for hope? Yes, ...
