My Journey Fighting Melanoma. As the title says this blog is one man’s effort to make sense out of his journey fighting melanoma. I have enjoyed reading some of my fellow melanoma warriors’ blogs and thought it might be an interesting way to share what this journey has been like for me. If you find this interesting great, if not that’s great also. Selfishly this is more about me getting this out and moving on from being a cancer patient to being a cancer survivor. Black is the New Pink - Fight Melanoma: Melanoma Awareness...It's That Simple!

http://blackispink.blogspot.com/2015/04/melanoma-awarenessits-that-simple.html

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Melanoma Awareness. It's That Simple! After my brother passed away from Stage IV melanoma, I had questions; simple questions really. What is melanoma? How does one get it? How does one prevent it? How can I know if I have melanoma? If I was to imagine a conversation to summarize the message and opposition, it would probably go something like this:. Me: Melanoma is a skin cancer…. Them: Oh thank goodness! What is good about that? But you can just cut the melanoma out…right? Yes, I ...

Monday, September 1, 2014. Labor Day.No Time to Put Away the Sunscreen! It’s Labor Day. Summer is unofficially over. If you or your kids aren’t back in school already, they’ll more than likely start very soon. It’s time to put away the beach towel, the boogie boards and the sunscreen, right? Okay…the beach towel and boogie board can get stowed away, but that sunscreen needs to remain in your medicine cabinet or bathroom counter! UVA rays are more commonly associated with aging and wrinkling. They als...

Black is the New Pink - Fight Melanoma: January 2015

http://blackispink.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 3, 2015. My Wishes for 2015. My son and daughter will turn 13 this year…they’ll be teenagers. I wish that they will gladly accept their own skin color and resist any temptation or peer pressure to tanning in the summer time because it’s fashionable. Every person’s skin color is their own, and part of what makes them beautiful. There’s no need to change. Enjoy the coming year my friends. Many good things will happen! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). It's Only Melanoma: January 2013

http://itsonlymelanoma.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 4, 2013. What matters to me is that Susan is the epitome of grace, and her daughter must have been amazing person. I wish I could have met her. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to worry my mom, god knows she has enough to worry about with the rest of my messed up family, but it seems with me she is pulling her head out of the sand little by little. How can you tell someone with Melanoma that they value things over people? When I see someone like Jillian fight for every second of her life,...

Melanoma Mom: August 2014

http://momhasmelanoma.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

I was diagnosed with Stage 1a Malignant Melanoma at age 40. This is my journey since that day. Sunday, August 24, 2014. Skin Rolling = Effective Ouch. I figured it couldn't be worse than super-sized needles injecting chemicals into the area. So, I tried it. I did still have a few twinges and soreness this summer and I wonder if it isn't related to the new site from July. It might have been due to increased weight lifting. Who knows? Not so much. :). Melanoma Mom: Well, this sucks...

http://momhasmelanoma.blogspot.com/2014/11/well-this-sucks.html

I was diagnosed with Stage 1a Malignant Melanoma at age 40. This is my journey since that day. Thursday, November 13, 2014. Well, this sucks. The doc called today with my results. The good news is that I got my 50% benign results back, at least for one visit. The biopsy at my original site revealed old scar tissue that healed "weird" and no signs of any mutating cells or the monster. Whew. The good news. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Getting survivors involved in the design of melanoma research: Our PCORI project advances to Tier 2. Great news to share! The project I've been working on in collaboration with Oregon Health and Science University and SolSurvivors has been selected to advance to Tier 2 of PCORI's Pipeline to Proposals Program. Pipeline to Proposal Awards enable individuals and groups that are not typically involved in research (like me! Send me a note at info@solsurvivorsusa.org. PCORI is an inde...

Pretty in Pale: January 2015

http://www.prettyinpale.org/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 19, 2015. Oh, the places you'll go. Last week, I was sitting in my office, reading through a proposal for a grant, when I looked up at my calendar and realized it's been exactly five years since I was diagnosed with melanoma. How funny it is to think back five years. In some ways, I feel like I'm the same person, but in so many other ways, I feel like I'm not. I watched a TED Talk over Christmas break called, " The psychology of your future self. Sounds simple enough, right? I booked my f...

One Man's Journey Into Linux. Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love Windows. Wednesday, 16 December 2009. F#, Erlang and GPUs. At ForensiT we’re right at the start of planning a major new project. For the first time, we’re thinking seriously about F#. F# is now a fully featured .NET language and ships as part of Visual Studio 2010. But why even consider F# instead of, say, Erlang? One Man's Journey; One God's Plan

One Man's Journey; One God's Plan. This started out as a progressive journal of my experience as an international student, but now it's a progressive journal of everything else. Saturday, September 6, 2014. The sacrifice God wants is a broken spirit. God, you will not reject a heart that is broken and sorry for sin. (Psalms 51:17 NCV). Saturday, February 1, 2014. What I'm Up To. It's very much a hobby still, but who know maybe I could make it a sort of business one day? Sunday, July 28, 2013.
