One Woman's Eye: January 2015

Friday, January 30, 2015. What We Can Learn About Predictive Analytics From The Blizzard That Wasn't. We are drowning in data. According to Nate Silver. We now produce every day, three times per second, the equivalent of the amount of data that the Library of Congress has in its entire print collection. That’s a lot of data! One of the hottest new jobs is that of data scientist. Sometimes it works quite well. Boots started to follow me everywhere I went. On my iPhone, my iPad and my desktop. I decided to...

As much I've loved this online home it was time to do an upgrade - or as I like to say move to fancier digs. On the new Rainmaker platform. One Woman's Eye: September 2014

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. What You Need To Know About Your Social Networking Style. I’ve always been style conscious. It’s the way my mama raised me. I combed fashion magazines and browsed through boutiques from an early age, not just searching for bargains, but for ideas on how to put outfits together. For me, fashion is an artistic expression of who I am, in that moment, for that occasion. So it's no wonder that I approach my social network interactions with the same consideration. They engage - but...

Tuesday, December 9, 2014. 9 Discoveries I Made In 2014 That Make Me Want To Dance. I've learned, that while not discounting those big AHA life altering moments, it is in often in those smaller discoveries that I find my world enhanced. When I uncover that new tool, idea, product or person that has me smiling because of the impact they have succeeded in making on my life. While I am often resistant at first - if not downright New York skeptical, I am. I didn’t get Evernote. So I gave up. I’m in love.

Thursday, August 28, 2014. The Things That Can Happen When You Don't Know Where You're Going. When I was still trying to figure out this next phase of my life. I went to a book launch by a man I had never heard of before. The book was called World Wide Rave. And the author was someone named David Meerman Scott. I started to follow him on the social networks. That I have adopted. To say his thinking helped to form my own on how to use digital tools to brand and sell is an understatement. As part of his re...

When Fridays Were Fridays. Reflections on life in Corporate America when Fridays were Fridays, loyalty mattered, and bosses still cared. Articles and Guest Posts. Friday, July 27, 2012. Is There Value in the Polls? The phone rings at 3:35 pm, right in the middle of my writing time. I consider not answering, but the piercing ring gets to me. The voice on the other end of the line: (a little too exuberantly) Hello! The voice: (worried) Hello? And I think (in this order):. Why did I pick up the phone? July ...

The Chameleon's Backbone. A story of life, love, and adaptation. Laquo; The 12-Week Break. Posted February 25, 2012 by Tracy in Beating the Feeling of UN. There are two types of people in this world. People who actively steer their own destiny. And people who essentially sit back and let life happen. A few years ago when the economy went into the toilet tank and I was a brand new business owner, someone said to me:. Just before the holidays of 2011, I decided that enough was enough. Being passive and let...

One Woman's Evolution
Tuesday, August 7, 2007. Journalists Are Socially Awkward. I've been working at a newspaper this summer and one thing that strikes me everyday is how socially awkward the newsroom is. People send emails to the person sitting next to them while others talk about sex with the f-word liberally sprinkled through the conversation. These are things I'd never do. I wonder is it because I'm young and don't quite feel like an adult yet? Or is it a weird newsroom code that I haven't learned? Sunday, May 27, 2007.

ONE WOMAN'S JOURNEY OF FAITH
ONE WOMAN'S JOURNEY OF FAITH. Friday, February 20, 2015. LIFE IS A STRUGGLE. I have nothing encouraging to say. I want my blog and my devotions to be a source of encouragement to others. Yet, I cannot encourage someone else when I am not encouraged myself. I am struggling in my own faith right now, and I have nothing positive to say to help someone else. Nothing's going to change. Everything will remain the same. Why bother trying? I want to give up the fight. My joy knew no bounds. I arrived to work...
