One year in chile. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Un Paseo Por El Bosque. It was a short walk in the woods. At last, winter is coming to Arucania. We hiked a trail in the afternoon at Huerquehue National Park up into the snow line and had to push our way through snow-laden thickets of Andean bamboo. A timed self-portrait back at the parking lot. Volcan Villarica covered in a mantle of fresh snow. The ski season here should get started before the middle of July. Monday, June 1, 2009. Our visit with Martin and Joni Plaehn was coming to an end, so we decided to walk around some of these European style cobblestone streets near the old Iglesia de San Francisco or St. Francis Church built in 1554. One year in chile. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Canopy XL in Huilo-Huilo. These animals are the Huemul. Or the Southern Andean Deer. The only time we saw these endangered animals was at the Huilo-Huilo animal park. Our last day at Huilo-Huilo we set aside 2 1/2 hours to experience Canopy XL. This is one of the longest and highest zip line courses in South America, with over 1600 meters of cable crossings.
