A Year In My Kitchen: A sad farewell to giant beasts. I mean feasts.

http://oneyearonecookbook.blogspot.com/2010/05/sad-farewell-to-giant-beasts-i-mean.html

A Year In My Kitchen. 1 cookbook, 1 food lover and some culinary fun. Monday, May 31, 2010. A sad farewell to giant beasts. I mean feasts. Ultimate Rib of Beef with Rosemary and Garlic Roast Potatoes. And so it was that I cooked meet and potatoes. Again. I marinated the steaks with smashed up garlic cloves, lemon zest, rosemary and olive oil and left it to sit for an hour. Forward thinking – yeah! Then I heated oil in a big and very hot pan and quickly pan fried the beef on either side, just to seal it, ...

A Year In My Kitchen: Ducks crossing here.

http://oneyearonecookbook.blogspot.com/2010/06/ducks-crossing-here.html

A Year In My Kitchen. 1 cookbook, 1 food lover and some culinary fun. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. I’m done with duck. Perfectly Cooked Crispy Duck with Spiced. Last night I cooked the last duck recipe in Jamie (and would you believe that all nine remaining recipes, bar one, are fish or seafood. How did I let this happen? So much for planning! It was a duck dinner for Caro’s birthday. Firstly I made some sage salt – sage leaves and salt smashed together in the pestle and mortar. The chutney has a story. Peas a...

A Year In My Kitchen. 1 cookbook, 1 food lover and some culinary fun. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. A Merry Christmas with Jamie! I don’t try to hide it. I love Christmas and everything that comes with it – including, of course, the feast. Roasted Baby Leeks with Thyme. Buttered Peas with Crunchy Bacon. After a morning of relaxing and opening prezzies, it was time to get down to business in the kitchen. The turkey needed to be stuffed and into the oven ASAP. Nutmeg, dried apricots, S&P and an egg. They wer...

A Year In My Kitchen: October 2009

http://oneyearonecookbook.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

A Year In My Kitchen. 1 cookbook, 1 food lover and some culinary fun. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Light and easy, bird. This will just be a quick one. A mid-week tally count. Roasted Chicken Breast Wrapped in Pancetta with Leeks and Thyme. I chopped half a leek (the biggest leek I’ve ever seen – the vegie man was super proud of his product! Some thyme, S&P, oil and a knob of butter. Draped the pancetta over the chicken breast, sat it on top of the leeks and into the oven for 25 minutes. Links to this post.

Food, life and everything in between. In A Minute #9. Bittersweet symphony: when life gives you runny jam. You know the saying, when life gives you mandarins, make marmalade? That’s not the saying?
