For a Christmas present this year I made my girlfriends dad a Christmas wreath with LEDs that attaches to the trailer hitch of his van. It was fairly simple to do. 12v LEDs (LEDs with built in resistors for 12v applications). Trailer hitch Chevy brake light. Trailer hitch wiring harness adaptor. Black plastic spray paint. Random assortment of wire.

The purpose of this blog is for me to share my random projects to the world. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. So today I got bored and decided to debadge my 2003 Toyota Matrix. To debadge essential any car you only need three things:. Dental floss ( fishing line works too). Bug and tar remover. Essentially all one has to do is to cut through the adhesive holding the badge on by using dental floss. Sliding it back and forth does the trick. The advertisements are gone! I came across a 200mW green laser diode and current driver for $0.01 on eBay and I just had to buy it! Unfortunately it cost me $10 to ship the darn thing. Oh well, I decided to make a laser pointer with it and decided to house the laser in an Altoids can. It is a little big though. It's nice and bright but it doesn't burn anything. booo. I think I ended up doing 5 coats of the minwax and sanded the final coat up to 800 grit. I have reassembled and cleaned my now fretless 5 string fender deluxe jazz bass! It might not be the prettiest but the sound is kick ass! I'll have to find my recording equipment so I can post a sound sample, maybe a video.

So I am still trying to figure out how to the heck to make this thing look good. So I am now thinking that if I get a typical cylindrical LED instead of these high flux square ones, I might be able to just drill holes and slide the LEDs through the back of the foam insert. I managed to mount the stepper motor for the X axis and connect it to the lead screw with the flex couplings I got off eBay. After running the X axis back and forth and running through the EMC2 default G-code, I realized that I am going to need bearings to keep the nylon sheet from lifting off the rails. This blog has been created to document my DIY CNC machine so that others can do it too! Thursday, December 15, 2011. Z axis almost done! I have not posted in a while, but I have been making progress! The lead screws fit the skate board bearings nicely so I decided to cut two ends with pockets for the skateboard bearings. I had to play with the tolerances to get a nice press fit of the bearing into the ends. The ends turned out really nice! So that I can use 1/4" end-mills and have more power!

The purpose of this blog is to document the construction of a foam core composite skim board. Monday, August 24, 2009. To glass the foam;. Cut the desired amount of fiberglass. Mixed an estimated amount of two part epoxy. Layed the fiberglass on the foam. Massaged the epoxy into the cloth (using latex gloves). Squeezed out the extra epoxy (using latex gloves). Laid wax paper on the epoxy/fiberglass surface (epoxy does not stick to wax paper). Finally putting those textbooks to some use!
