Chef in Transition: November 2011

Sunday, November 13, 2011. Better late than never. The title is in reference to this very late Ironman Canada. Race report, but it also nicely sums up my result: I did finish my first Ironman race on 28-Aug-2011 in 12 hours and 42 minutes. Am I happy with this result? And yes, in many ways I am really happy. I finished reasonably healthy and in good spirits. And after all, sub-13 was my "B" goal. With my "C" goal being to simply finish. The "A" goal was to finish in sub-12 hours. So in all honesty, I am ...

Ok some of the pain is self inflicted. ;). One of the major reasons why I started leading an active lifestyle and ultimately got into triathlon was to make my body stronger and ...

Running Tough: Hatley Castle 8k
http://shaneruljancich.blogspot.com/2012/02/hatley-castle-8k.html
Thursday, February 23, 2012. February 19, 2012. I finished just under 27 min for the first time ever at the race (26:57) and good for 3rd place. Overall it was a good race for me and I was particularly happy with my last km 3:05 clocking and a 13.2s 100m sprint which tied me for fastest sprint (unfortunately for Byron Trajan, who convincingly won the sprint at Cedar, didn't get his time recorded for some reason). My Splits: 3:10, 3:33, 3:16, 3:38, 3:28, 3:31, 3:13, 3:05. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, July 17, 2011. Canmore Challenge (Qualifying for Canadian Mountain Running Team). July 9, 2011. This was the goal race of the year for me and I had been working hard on my hill climbing since November. Things had been going well for the most part although the month or so prior to the race felt a little weak in terms of training due to vacations and some low energy weeks. I just hoped that I had banked enough fitness to get the job done on race day. Photo Credit: Sara Pape Salmon. View my complete...

Running Tough: Mount Washington Gutbuster
http://shaneruljancich.blogspot.com/2012/10/mount-washington-gutbuster.html
Sunday, October 14, 2012. July 28, 2012. I decided to make the 3.5 hour one way trek up to Mount Washington so I could could get in this final Gutbuster race. I have not done all the races in quite a few years so this was a nice oppertunity. Luckily, I was able to catch a ride up with Larry Nylan and Valarie Bell which made the trip much more enjoyable. Thanks to Nick Walker and Mark Nelson for another great year of Gutbuster races and to all the volunteers that help make it happen. Chris Callendar - Run...

Running Tough: Update
http://shaneruljancich.blogspot.com/2012/12/update.html
Friday, December 14, 2012. Its been a while since I've posted anything here, so here is a quick update. Before my injury I did participate in a few local races and here is a brief summery. 5k Salmon Run Run. MEC Victoria Fall Classic 10k. Another low key event paired with a 5k. I think these events are great since the low frills nature (no shirt, basic food, etc.) keep the cost low. For many avid racers such as myself, how many shirts do you really need?
