Our Ordinary Life

Monday, July 21, 2014. Lil Bro - First Day of Kindergarten. Thursday, July 17, 2014. This is Mulan. (I think that is her name) She is a turtle from Big Bro's school. Big Bro is in charge of the turtle for the summer. And you ask why do we have it in our kitchen? Big Bro and family are on vacation. She is quite cute for a turtle. She loves to eat. Whenever we pass her she swims like crazy and keeps opening her. She must be enjoying the food because this is what we found. We've never seen a turtle egg,...

Our Ordinary Life: Lil Bro For The Day

http://www.ourordinarylife-jeriandbob.blogspot.com/2014/05/lil-bro-for-day.html

Sunday, May 11, 2014. Lil Bro For The Day. Lil Bro spent last Friday with me. I've had my eye on this tree at the park for a picture of the Bro Brothers. Afternoon lighting wasn't too good. I think I'll try morning light next time. We went to the craft store and bought some paper and small flowers to make a Mother's Day card for his mother. It was fun to choose a plant. It is fun to have Lil Bro for a day. We miss Big Bro, but it's nice to have all the attention. We have lots. Lil Bro For The Day.

Our Ordinary Life: April 2013

Sunday, April 14, 2013. Far, far way Big Bro was born (yes, it does seem like kids are aliens at times.) Today we celebrate that big event at the secret rebel base which meant that Darth Vader (oops, I mean Grandpa) was thrilled as the gaggle of boys jumped in the jumpy house and battled with light sabers. Lil Bro in the middle of the action. A gaggle of Jedi. Ouch, watch those light sabers. Big Bro, the Jedi Knight. The best part of the day.birthday cake. No, no! Monday, April 8, 2013. A dancing fairy p...

Friday, June 28, 2013. Bald Eagle - A Beautiful Sight. It is amazing what you find on a walk in Alaska. As we approach a loading dock for fisherman along the water front we see our national bird sitting atop a roof. She didn't mind the crowd gathering nor did she mind picture taking. It seems she even posed for us. Soon we learned that she is there everyday waiting for the. I thought we were flower experts. Learned that it originates in the lush mountainous region on the south-eastern side of Tibet.

Balmforth Family Updates: April 2015

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 27, 2015. Zach and the temple. When our friend Erica came home from her mission her cousin came to her homecoming. He noticed something different about her and wanted to learn more. He met with the missionaries from our church with Erica but then she had to leave for college. We were introduced to Zach and were fortunate enough to have him continue the lessons in our home. He was baptized the end of Febraury. I am so thankful to be a part of this gospel. I'm so thankful for these moment...

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Greek yogurt and chocolate. The boys and I have a new love. Freshly made greek yogurt. It's a little pricey so we don't buy it very often but it's so delicious it's a necessary treat every once and awhile, so far our favorites are honey coconut and strawberry and banana. Balmforth Family Updates: May 2015

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Ben took Anna Berry to mormon prom. When the words "Mormon Prom" are mentioned to most people in the west, people say "Is that really a thing? Yes, Mormon Prom really is a thing. For a lot of kids this is the only prom they go too. I think this year 6 stakes (200ish kids ages 16-18) were invited. They had a blast. It takes a long time to take couple shots of that many kids so me and Anna's mom were having some fun posing Anna and Ben in our own little photo shoot. The mouse is now g...

Balmforth Family Updates: February 2015

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. We spent a better part of our weekend painting (that's for a different blog post) and cleaning the ice dams off of our roof. Ice dams are a common occurrence out here and are nothing more than a big inconvenience that can do a lot of damage to your house and roof if they aren't taken care of. It's a lot of work and I was sure proud and thankful that the boys were willing to work so hard. Sunday, February 22, 2015. 30-45 minutes later this is the "something" that he came up w...

Balmforth Family Updates: November 2014

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 30, 2014. An unexpected tender mercy. They kept talking about my mom and the kind of person that she was. They were each friends with my mom and also served with my mom in various callings. So from working together and playing together they developed strong friendships with her,. My mom was always looking for ways to help other people. Even if it was just being a friend she always seemed to be doing something for some one. I loved that they remembered this about her. He still loves my si...

Balmforth Family Updates: June 2015

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Meghan and I went to a Women's Conference in Lowell. I don't think I ever mentioned that my dad moved out to a place of his own in April and Meghan moved in in May. She will be here working until she leaves for her mission in January. We went to a womens conference sponsered by our church. It was for all women of faith, not necessarily just members of our church. The keynote speaker was Stefanie Nielson. And we just happened to be on the 4th row! Monday, June 22, 2015. They played...

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Lobster, goodbyes and the temple. Elder Trujillo just went home, but before he left we had lobster for his last supper. Like I said, they are spanish speaking elders so they are used to getting beans and rice for most of their meals. When they come to our house they say "can we have white people food for dinner? Wednesday, December 31, 2014. 19 catch up blog posts in one day. My New Years Resolution is to never get. That behind on the blog again. Our morning started early with kids scoping out their gifts. We spent the next few hours slowly opening our gifts. Christmas day is all about time with the family. It's the best day of the year. The homemade gift exchange is becoming one of my favorite traditions. Ben made for Josh a marshmallow gun. I made for Ben some signs for his room. Temple and the missionaries.

Balmforth Family Updates: October 2014

http://balmforthfamily.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 31, 2014. Meghan and I went to Maine for our last hurrah before she went home. We went to Nubble light house and to the taffy store in the center of town. Megs loved watching them make the taffy. We hung out at the window for quite awhile. I loved watching her love it. It reminded me of my mom. Every time we went to Maine we had to go to the taffy store! We ventured to Perkins cove and had lobster for lunch. I think she had more fun playing with the lobster than eating it. We brought home...

Friday, August 21, 2015. I have a new calling. I'm the girls camp director for our stake. Ugh I haven't been to girls camp since high school, I know nothing about girls camp and now I need to plan it for more than 100 girls? Thankfully, I was called before this years girls camp so I was able to attend as an observer and at least try to grasp the concept of what happens at girls camp. Youth conference ended on Saturday evening and Monday I was unpacked and packed again or girls camp. As for the hair, I ke...

Ordinary Days | An ordinary mom sharing glimpses of her life, including transracial adoption, special-needs kids, and the typical stuff of life

An ordinary mom sharing glimpses of her life, including transracial adoption, special-needs kids, and the typical stuff of life. Things We Know About. Posted by Kelly in Inclusion. My friend and I watched silently. 8220;Oh my gosh,” I finally whispered. It was as though I had been punched in the gut. I could not breathe as I watched them walk by. And then the tears came. And they came hard. It broke my heart. It made me angry. It made me sad. And the emotions flooded. And I realized that all the nights I...

Our extra-Ordinary Life

Sunday, February 12, 2017. So, I was looking through some ABQ photos and I found some gems! These were in a Sept. - Nov. file. By then, of 2003, we had settled in quite nicely. Micah started a Mother's Day Out at a local preschool. He went only on Fridays for a few hours and loved it! I loved it because it gave him time to play with other kids. A few of those kids were in his kindergarten class the next year. Picture proof that we did do pumpkins and costumes with our boys! Again, this was our first year...

Splendor in the Home

Friday, October 27, 2017. Adjusting to having five kids (seven and under) has been a little slower than I expected. Heh. I feel like I say this every. Time I have a new baby. Seriously, I need to write myself a note and remember to read it the next time (God willing) I'm close to giving birth. It would say something like:. Yes, newborns are. Easier than toddlers, and yes they do. With 26 probes on his head during his EEG. A few things we have. Managed to find the time for during this busy phase of life:.
