The following is an excerpt from a journal entry that was shared during one student's year end testimony. So with wild animals garbage, minimal hygienic resources, its not hard to imagine the smell. Tons of corners have a rotten out in the sun with a strong urine smell. People are living among these unpreventable smells. These shacks are built among these odour hot spots. Links to this post.

Outtatown Site 1 Guatemala. Saturday, May 2, 2009. Casa Bernabe is a large orphange in Guatemala- our students got to be part of the kids lives for the week. It was a very meaningful experience with a lot of laughter! Global Shores is another organization that we volunteered with. Students helped children with their homework, played and even went on a field trip with them to a science museum! Students also did odd jobs here and there like painting and cutting the grass.
