Toni and Julie's Excellent Adventure. Day 32 April 12th. April 13, 2011. One week from today and we will be home! We left Wichita Falls at 11:00 and pointed our car south. Houston was our destination, and seeing our sister Lisa and her husband Tony. Their daughter Caitlin has been living with them in Houston for about 6 months, but is moving back to Allentown, PA. Toni and Julie's Excellent Adventure. Day 36 April 16th. April 16, 2011. We left Houston and the hospitality of our sister Lisa and her husband Tony at 8:30. Believe it or not, we are now 5 weeks into our trip! Our route took us through rural Texas and then into Louisiana. Our goal was to get to Natchez, Mississippi by early afternoon. We drove across LA without many stops. This was another peanut butter and jelly sandwich while driving in the car day. Mississippi River and Bridge. What a beautiful city!

Toni and Julie's Excellent Adventure. March 23, 2011. We reluctantly left Deni at 10:30 and headed toward our Albert Lea, Minnesota destination. The weather wasn’t the best today…40’s in Chicago and later 30’s in MN. We also went through a lot of rain. At least there wasn’t any snow to worry about. We did not see Wisconsin at its best. It was gray and rainy. However, we did enjoy a basket of Wisconsin Cheese Curds! They taste better than it sounds. Its basically fried chedar cheese and it hit the spot.

After being a public school teacher for 30 years and closing in on 60 years my daughter convinced me to take a pottery wheel class. over the hill refers to the timing of this endeavor rather than the topography of my studio. In fact my studio is in the basement of my home in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The thing I enjoy most about making pottery is experimenting with shapes, colors, glazes, and materials. Over the hill pots.

Toni and Julie's Excellent Adventure. Day 38 April 18th. April 20, 2011. There is an old Johnny Cash song that goes “I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve been everywhere…” Well, we haven’t been everywhere, but we have been to all 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. Our day started early for us. We left Memphis at 7:30 central time. Our route took us through Tupelo, Mississippi so of course we had to stop at the birthplace of Elvis Presley! It comes from the panhandle of Florida. So, no honey.
