Villages and the internet. So, my new website is live and I’d like to just write a quick note about. The internet is so important to a little village like Lustleigh. The internet is at it’s heart a communication tool, and even in a village like Lustleigh, where gossip travels faster than you can download a movie, it’s still important to make sure that the people and the council can communicate with each other easily, quickly, and without any errors of translation as one person tells another.

Setting up a IIS environment. We were in need of an IIS environment to test various things internally. It just so happened that AWS provide a Windows Server 2012 AMI, so it was easy to spin up a micro instance. The procedure was fairly simple, after the headache the GUI gave me had subsided. To anyone setting up their own IIS server, I recommend taking 2 Ibuprofen about 30 minutes before starting, to counteract the GUI you’ll be struggling to comprehend for the next hour or two.
