No use crying over crushed artichokes | the owl in the pulpit
https://owlinthepulpit.wordpress.com/2015/04/24/no-use-crying-over-crushed-artichokes
The owl in the pulpit. Reflections on life and art in italy. No use crying over crushed artichokes. Early one morning, the aunt arrived, more flustered than usual, carrying a white plastic shopping bag that was a bit torn up and that looked to be full of brownish-green ooze. 8220;Is N here? 8221; She asked directly. 8221; I asked. “What is that? 8220;I’ll tell N,” she replied, and began to climb the stairs. 8220;Vieni,”. 8220;These are clean.” She said, indicating the artichokes. “The...8221; N asked.

Una Bella Faccia | the owl in the pulpit
https://owlinthepulpit.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/una-bella-faccia
The owl in the pulpit. Reflections on life and art in italy. Sitting in the living room, I could hear some mysterious movements in the kitchen: first, the dragging of a chair across the tiled floor, then, the filling up of a container with liquid, and finally, the banging of a metal object against a hard surface. After a few seconds of silence, I heard quick footsteps back and forth and the metal object being set down on the table. 8220;What are you doing? 8221; I called out to Pata. 8220;Nothing, Mommy!
Before and After | the owl in the pulpit

The owl in the pulpit. Reflections on life and art in italy. Window with old street lamp, 2015. Among them was this newly plastered and painted facade in the neighborhood of the cathedral. I gasped when I saw it, and not because of its color. I had taken a picture of the same facade five years before, when it looked very different, and that photo has been my favorite of all the ones I’ve taken of Sessa, ever since. 8216;Please turn on, please turn on, please turn on,’ I begged it in a little voice. The owl in the pulpit. Reflections on life and art in italy. Chestnut grove, Roccamonfina. A couple of weeks ago we had a picnic with N’s family in a chestnut grove in the nearby town of Roccamonfina. As I walked around looking at the trees, I found myself wishing we had chestnuts instead of olives. I do appreciate making our own oil but I miss green and shade and cooler climates. Moss on a chestnut tree. Gnarled portion of a chestnut tree. Christmas ornament stash, Phase II →. The cuteness of corbels.

Life and times of a mother with lung disease. Laquo; Still waiting. October 8, 2013 by palikari. It was only an hour or two later and she had my food stamp card reloaded, and promised that my son could get his meds the following day. Apparently medicaid takes 24 hours to process. I thought things would start to look up. I was wrong. More to say on her birthday and such, but for now I m just trying to catch up with the past few weeks. Who knows, time will tell I suppose. I’m hanging in. Owl in the pulpit.

Life and times of a mother with lung disease. Laquo; Playing Catch (up). October 14, 2013 by palikari. First it’s okay to post it here I think because no one who knows them IRL reads here. I’m gonna be a grandma! I did (or will have) make (made) it to my 40. Before that happened, but barely. By a nose! I will at least have the chance to knit some lovely booties and gush over my firstborn’s firstborn-to-be. I can’t describe how that feels. On October 22, 2013 at 8:11 am. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Life and times of a mother with lung disease. Laquo; On a trip! Need a vacation (from my vacation). September 6, 2013 by palikari. Just returned from a few weeks’ worth of travel, and I am not at all pleased with the mess I’ve returned to. Not one iota. I am unsure where to begin. I “missed” my phone interview, according to them, and as such I must be punished! I dunno. Anyway, they set it up again for the following day, and the following day finally got me a phone interview. PHEW! I have no drawers!
