ACESrun: Afton/Voyager//Superior 12'
http://acesrun.blogspot.com/2012/09/aftonvoyagersuperior-12.html
Monday, September 3, 2012. Afton Voyager July 12’. I put the two of these events together because there was only 3 weeks separating them. My longest training run leading up to Afton was Superior on May 19. And for the three weeks prior to Afton I was unable to do really anything except a green lighting 3 miler the Wednesday before the race. There were really 3 days that I used to train for Voyager, the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the week between the events. June was a busy month with surgery on the 22.

pigtail ultrarunner: March 2011
http://pigtailultrarunner.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 28, 2011. 3 Days of Syllamo - Day 2- 50M. Luckily for me, I felt fairly good. little stiff, little sore and a little blister on a toe but mentally feeling pretty happy. Stage races are certainly about the mental aspect. Whoops. Jimmy suggested wearing suspenders next time. I was just glad that my skirt had kept Sarah from face planting. Comments in the bathrooms. I crossed the finish line still in the light and faster then last years time by a few hours but still wasn't happy with my pe...

See Bud Run: Wasatch Front 100 Miler
http://seebudrun.blogspot.com/2013/09/wasatch-front-100-miler.html
Sunday, September 29, 2013. Wasatch Front 100 Miler. The what, where? After two years of trying, I was offered a spot. In which we arrive in Utah. After a couple of painless flights to get here from Minneapolis, we step off the plane. What's that I feel? In which I try to stay calm and start a long day. Ben, Vicky, me, and Amy. Duplicating our Leadville shot from several years ago. Quick weigh in at Big Mountain. In which the heat gets turned up. In which I cool off and start to grind. I got another weig...

See Bud Run: September 2012

Sunday, September 30, 2012. Superior Sawtooth 100 - 2012. It's not often that the perfect storm happens for a race: the weather is perfect, you show up well rested, well trained, and almost no problems during the race. This year's version of Sawtooth was all of those for me, serving up a special performance despite a painful shin injury at mile 85. I punched the clock in 22:41:02 and getting the sweetheart prize for second two years in a row. Kurt having a good time. Off into the twilight. Ice Age 50 Mile.

Breaking and Excellent Points: December 2012
http://breakingexcellent.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 7, 2012. I'm a Selfish Bitch and You're an Amazing Friend: The Unspoken Fallout of Pandora's Race. How does a person come to the idea to run 100 miles? Wait You've done this before? And the conversation just kind of goes downhill from there. But the reality is, these are in fact, very good questions that I would very much like to answer. The only trouble being, I think you'll find the summation of my response to be wholly and dreadfully uninspired. I heard about it. I did it again. I mea...

Breaking and Excellent Points: September 2013
http://breakingexcellent.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 25, 2013. I wiped the sweat from my brow as I reached the final switchback. A minute more and I had reached the clearing, 5.5 miles and 3500’ from the place I’d started, but still a long way from where I wanted to be. Well… I don’t know. But I do know that confidence is not belief. Belief is a whole other animal. Naturally, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching in the past month plus since the race, and have considered this theme often. DO I BELIEVE IN MYSELF? BUT DO YOU BELIEVE?

Breaking and Excellent Points: On Waterfalls and Wine
http://breakingexcellent.blogspot.com/2015/04/on-waterfalls-and-wine.html
Thursday, April 9, 2015. On Waterfalls and Wine. How is it April already? How have we already had Daylight Savings Time? How did I turn 32? Did I do my taxes correctly? Can we please have just one more snow storm? Is Lake Sonoma already this weekend? Turns out, the answer is yes. Showing my pops around the high country section of AC. Asked if I wanted to run the 50 since I was coming all the way up there, and I said ok. It was only later that I realized March 29. Is only two weeks before April 11. So yea...

Breaking and Excellent Points: DeSplintered.
http://breakingexcellent.blogspot.com/2011/12/desplintered.html
Monday, December 5, 2011. The best part is that the doc, who has long since left the hospital, makes a call to talk to me about what he found. It wasn't just scar tissue. It was straight up yucca tips. And even he was in shock over the whole thing. Boom. I'm an episode of HOUSE. Check it out:. 1/3 of an inch yucca splinter hiding in my knee joint for 6 months. Apparently the scar tissue (the stuff that looks like cherries here) was. Growing around it and obscured it from detection via MRI. My knee looks ...
