Kids, Raspberry Cupcakes and Traveling Home. April 24, 2009. Bull; 82 comments. This weekend we are leaving for a two week trip home. I will be traveling alone with our little one. And then C. will join us a week later. I have always been one to travel light and never took long to pack and go. Things have changed now, so the days before we travel overseas, I have to make sure I have everything in place so that we have a successful, smooth trip. When Jill was here, she introduced me to xylitol. 2 tsp vani...

Colehill Kitchen: March 2010
http://colehillkitchen.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Food, food and more food! Monday, 29 March 2010. Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons. I'm all for spending the weekend in the kitchen, trying out new and delicious recipes, which take time and energy. I love experimenting with more complicated dishes, (I think I get that from my Dad, he once found a recipe which required pretty much every single utensil, pot, pan and dish in the kitchen which is no mean feat considering how well equiped his kitchen is! Book I've tried her dishes before. They need to be le...

Colehill Kitchen: Thai Green Chicken and King Prawn Curry
http://colehillkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/02/thai-green-chicken-and-king-prawn-curry.html
Food, food and more food! Thursday, 24 February 2011. Thai Green Chicken and King Prawn Curry. After reading Nigella's book Kitchen. So, on to my other current obsession - the topping for this rice. Thai Green Curry. The gentle heat with the creamy (yet not as hideously detrimental for the waistline as actual cream. The recipe I've used is a Waitrose one which I tailored slightly to my taste, but I imagine they're all fairly similar:. 2 tbsp Thai green curry paste. For the curry sauce:. 1 tsp olive oil.

Colehill Kitchen: November 2010

Food, food and more food! Monday, 22 November 2010. Rocket, Moon and Astronaut Space Themed Cake. This weekend was hectic in the best possible way, lots of family and fun! It was Mr.Colehill's nephew's fourth birthday party, and I (somewhat bravely) offered to make the cake for the occasion, and here is the finished article! I'm quite pleased with it since it's only my second go at cake decorating - the first being the baby cake. For the birthday boy's new baby brother a few months ago. A resounding no&#...

Colehill Kitchen: September 2010
http://colehillkitchen.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Food, food and more food! Friday, 17 September 2010. Rachel Allen's Chocolate and Vanilla Semifreddo. After I left, I really missed freshly made ice cream so I bought a do-it-yourself-at-home gadget for churning ice cream. It's a fairly teeny little device that holds a litre of ice cream, and churns while in the freezer, working off a battery. Sounds great huh? So what's a girl with an ice cream craving to do? A resident life saver in my kitchen, and it was a real success. 3 eggs, separated. Sprinkle a t...

Laquo; cream braised cabbage with leeks. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The trouble with homemade care packages you mail out – is that most homemade treats have a limited shelf-life. Cookies – three days or so, granola – loses its crispness if not refrigerated, cupcakes – can’t quite ship them without compromising their shape as the frosting gets in the way. I’ve always wondered what. People send as care packages, and do they send it overnight, or on ice? And in case you’re wondering, cooking Roman food wa...

Colehill Kitchen: January 2011
http://colehillkitchen.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Food, food and more food! Tuesday, 18 January 2011. Borough Market Sea Bass and Chorizo. Last Saturday Mr. Colehill and I took a trip to Borough Market. Und you as you amble through the winding paths through the market, and the gems that you stumble across when you're not sure what you're there to buy. This time we knew we wanted some fish - yes, I admit it, we were completely drawn in by the Hugh's Fish Fight. After our purchases we picked up some lunch - a beautifully tender pork belly and apple sauce ...

In my mind I'm going: September 2008
http://inmymind-ncfoodie.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
In my mind I'm going. Irregular postings on eating, cooking, and writing in North Carolina. Sunday, September 28, 2008. Remember Me to One Who Lives There. Here, in this fond record, I triangulate food, writing, and remembering. But for most of my life, I’ve been a terrible keeper of memories. I’m the mom who forgets her camera. My photo album is years out of date. I can’t even recall my own office number. (But really, when do I need to call myself? What else were those cave drawings for? And why should ...
